Purchase Engagement Rings
Added 2025-07-05 10:06:00 +0000 UTCThis is an update of an old small tweak I had, "propose costs money", that tweak will now be unsupported . With this mod, you can buy wedding rings. I didn't change Maxis' interaction, so even if you don't have one, you can still propose.

Wedding rings can be bought from phone, PC and in Tartosa from the clothing shop shell.
There are 5 wedding rings:
They show like this in game because the game generated thumbnail for the object was horrible. Rings go from cheap to luxury.
The ring cannot be dragged out of the inventory, you need to use the interactions:
Personalising the Ring:
You can give the ring a name and a description.
Proposing with the Ring:
Once your Sim has a ring in their inventory, Maxis interaction will be replaced by a custom one. Post Lovestruck the interaction is moved in the Relationships menu.
You'll need to pick the ring you want to use for the proposal:
After proposing the ring will be moved in the other Sim's inventory and will be wearable:
Wearing a gifted wedding ring gives gameplay effects (it slows down the relationship decay with the partner, the more expensive the ring the more powerful s the effect). The ring will also show on your Sim.
Already Married or Engaged Sims:
If your Sims are already married or engaged, they'll have the option to gift the wedding ring.
Family Heirlooms:
Parents and grandparents can pass down their wedding rings to the youngster.
This will change the ring into a family heirloom:
A family heirloom can both be worn and used to propose.
Special Rings:
There are 6 hidden rings that cannot be purchased, they can only be found through gameplay. 5 of them are associated with occults and give a special bonus to those Sims:
The 6th is a surprise.
I won't give you spoilers on how to find them, but from the cheat menu you can get up to 3 hints (shift click on your Sim with testingcheats on):

Hi, I was wondering if there is any known conflicting mods? The option to buy a ring does not show up for me. I have tons of mods so I am assuming one is conflicting.

2025-07-17 23:41:03 +0000 UTCA little confused about when this was updated since its posted as July 5, but this is not working in my game after all recent EA updates (newest pack not installed). I can get the ring and engrave it etc but the option to propose seems to be erased from the game, not just from the sim who has the ring in their inventory.No one can propose even with highest romance.

2024-03-22 18:44:16 +0000 UTCWe use the word "décoller" which literally means to remove the glue. So the translation is totally messed up. In French we would say "Retirer la bague" = "Take off the ring". Thanks anyway

2024-03-22 18:00:10 +0000 UTCand i don't understand french but chat GPT informs me that "Decoller à mon bien-aimé" means "Take off to my beloved" and that's not greyed out. That's how you take off the ring (I don't know if the French translation of the mod is correct)

Since you can't drag the ring in live mode, what happens if I play on another family and the person who is currently wearing the family ring (and is waiting for her daughter to get old enough to inherit it), dies? Like, where does the ring go if she dies before she can pass it on to her daughter?

The ring is an appearance modifier that uses the finger ring slot, but doesn't replace an existing accessory, so if your Sim is wearing an accessory that uses the same slot the ring will not show. Also, there are a couple of rings that use a My Wedding Stories model, if you don't have that pack the modifier will not work, you'll still get the other effects from wearing the ring tho.
