ALL - Historical Mods
Added 2020-11-25 10:10:12 +0000 UTCI'm playing a Potato Famine Challenge with myself, because I was bored, so I'm playing a save that is set in 19th century and heavily relies on gardening. There were a couple of things that were bugging me:
___
Candles Last Twice
With EL, you can make candles, they work off the grind and can be used to lit the house. This is great for historical saves, but the candles duration was too short. I doubled the time they last. LMSSam has a mod to make crafting candles faster.
___
Re-enable Weed Manually
The forced use of the Vaccum when you're over 5 in gardening skill was killing the gardening for me, so I re-enabled the ability to manually remove weeds, along with using the Vacuum. choose Weed to do it manually, Weed All to use the Vacuum. This mod is not compatible with Kids Can Garden by FerdianaSims. I originally wanted to do a compatible version, but upon opening that mod I found out it is outdated (sims will not gain Lifestyle progresses) and since it overrides all the gardening interactions, I could not be arsed updating it myself. If the mod gets updated, I'll see to make a compatible version.
___
No fire insurance
No money given when something burns
___
Gardening Lot Traits: 3 Lot traits to make gardening more challenging
1. Crops Blight - causes random crops failure around your lot, the plants straight up die.
2. Unfertile Soil - dries plants and makes the need of water more frequent
3. Bugs zone - bugs will like to infest your plants a lot
Notice: all the traits activate at midnight, so it can cause performance problems and lags if you have a lot of plants. I don't advise using the 3 together but they're not locked.
- Filthy lot trait can trigger sickness, in case you want to set up a proper Victorian workhouse
___
Deadly Dickensian Sicknesses
This one requires Utility - Death Interactions (updated for this mod) and The XML Injector
4 deadly illness typical of Victorian age that can be caught by your sims:
Typhoid: triggered by low hygiene
Tuberculosis: triggered by being cold
Scarlet Fever: triggered by being cold, children are more likely to get this one
Cholera: triggered by eating in grody places
Typhoid, Scarlet Fever and Tuberculosis are contagious, they are asymptomatic for the first 12 hours but can already be passed. ALL THE ILLNESS, IF NOT TREATED, ARE DEADLY!
Your sims are more likely to get sick if they're weakened by hunger or tired. As long as they are well cared for, you should have no problems.
Treatment: if you play a historical save, you can brew a new potion with the herbalism skill (+6) to try and cure the sickness, this doesn't assure you that you will overcome it, but it gives a boost to your sim body... you still have to wait and see. If the illness is already too advanced then the potion will not work (from the second buff on). Your sims can also heal on their own, but it should be rare. If you want to be sure to cure the illness, then you can purchase a vaccine from the computer. The vaccine gives you the immunity from every illness in the mod. Scarlet Fever can be contracted only once... it your sim get it and survives, they cannot contract it again. There are no cures for Toddlers, but they are more likely to overcome the illnesses on they own. Same goes for NPCs (but they can start a pandemic).
Napping: resting will slow down the symptoms or actively bring them back if your sim has enough rest, while intense activities will speed them up.
Alimentation: tea, water, honey and healthy food will slow down the sickness or bring it back, while bar drinks and junk food will speed it up.
Let me know if something doesn't work with the children and toddlers.
UP - forgot to blacklist pets in a loot. They CAN'T go past the first stage of the sicknesses anyway, ever.
This mod conflicts with LMSSam more herbalism potions, it is already built to work together with it, in order to have both this mod and her potions, you need to put this one in the overrides folder.
__
Pickpocket for everyone
Unlocked the interaction for everyone, now relies on mischief skill and not on the career
I was notified that there is another mod for this, if you have that, you don't need this one, obviously. Also the mod that allows you to work the criminal career from home has this modification included so you don't need this in that case either.
___
Mop the Dust!
This one requires The XML Injector
Playing historical saves or Off the Grid, and want to clean the house?
You're fucked, because Maxis didn't add an option to remove the dust that doesn't relies on the fecking vacuum, which relies on power.
With this, you can Mop The Dust.

2022-08-15 08:29:56 +0000 UTCHI Zero, I was just wondering if there's a way to disable the vacuuming buffs that happen when sims mop the dust? I have a sim living off the grid and while its amazing to be able mop dust off-grid, she also has the technophobe lifestyle, but starts to get tense and lose the lifestyle for using technology every time she mops the dust because she gets the vacuuming related buffs still. I hope I'm explaining that clearly.

2022-08-14 16:09:14 +0000 UTCMh, that's weird, I wonder if it's showing the additional potions I added for compatibility of maxis ones with empty name and description

2021-10-11 16:15:31 +0000 UTCHello Zero, with your mod some original recipes disappear from the grill and the oven. I play in German. It's your mod (DeadlyDickensianSicknesses.package) alone responsible because if I delete it, everything will be back. https://ibb.co/wB4kQ3X https://ibb.co/12ZkLqJ

2021-10-10 21:14:44 +0000 UTCI'm sorry, I misunderstood the part about hygiene, although the 2 days you mentioned in your answer to stephkaycee above. Oh well I understand it like these are intentional features rather than issues with my mod or game, thank you for answering and for your work :)

2021-09-10 11:17:06 +0000 UTCNo rest and sometimes food makes the sicknesses go back to the first stage and gives the opportunity to roll the chance again. Good hygiene and "every two days" aren't something I ever mentioned.

2021-09-10 10:20:05 +0000 UTCThe buffs last long because these sickness actually used to last long in the Victorian age, sometimes a lifetime, and that's how they're supposed to work. Scarlet fever kills as much as typhoid and is contracted exactly the same way. All the sickness are a clone of each other and have the same duration. The Victorian remedy it not supposed to bring back the clock, it slows them down a bit, giving you more time to bring it back with rest, other things like being tired speed up the decay so they can contrast each other

2021-09-10 00:17:05 +0000 UTCHi, I use the deadly diseases in my game, but I feel like the buffs last for too long. If your sims are sick, you need to separate them from the rest of the household to not spread it, correct? I have two sims with typhoid atm and they have been sick for over a week, which is a lot in sim-time. Also, I'm not sure whether it is typhoid or scarlet fever that kills the sim, because all of my sims have gotten scarlet fever a few days after typhoid and that buff does not have a time limit or any notification about whether they have combated the illness or not. My typhoid smitten sims have not been cold when they got scarlet fever. Lastly, I made one of the sims take remedies after getting the notification that he hadn't gotten rid of the illness, but it did not bring back the +1 buff, instead it added more time to the +2, three more days... so it didn't give him a chance to re-roll the dice like you say above. Would like to hear you input on this. I'm sorry for not dividing up the text but I'm on my phone so I couldn't.

2021-09-09 21:23:29 +0000 UTCToddlers cannot die of deadly illnesses. Sims don't really get better, they only get worse, turning the clock back gives a change of healing naturally tho, because the mod rolls a change of healing naturally after 2 days, so if you manage to bring it back to the first stage you get the opportunity to roll that dice again.

2021-08-28 10:43:06 +0000 UTCHow exactly do Sims get better? We had a toddler get ill and age into a child, and had a debuff for an illness of 3 days. It changed to 4 even while keeping her needs up and and napping when needed, and then we gave her the medicine. It went up to 5 days. After the medicine kicked in, it went back to 4. Does more days equal healing? What do the moodlets mean? How do you know if they are improving or worsening? She hasn't had a notification saying she's gotten worse. We also have a toddler in phase 2 and I thought they could only be in phase 1. Thanks!
StephandMinnie
2021-08-26 21:14:56 +0000 UTCYou're welcome. Keep taking good care of them in order to revert the sickness to the first phase and roll the chance of healing again, toddlers will eventually heal.

2021-08-12 05:06:43 +0000 UTCI don't have discord anymore. No they will not die of it, but toddlers especially should recover after the first phase is over

2021-08-11 19:34:07 +0000 UTCHi! I love your mods! You do a really good job :) I have the Deadly Dickensian Sicknesses mod and I'd like to know if I need an other mod to permit toddler and child death. All my toddler and children have scarlet and they aren't able to recover but they don't die... And can you give me your Discord please? I don't find it on your Patreon. A big thanks !

2021-08-11 18:21:04 +0000 UTCI'll see to do it

2021-08-07 21:26:14 +0000 UTCHi, I really like the Sickness mods. However I was wondering if you could allow the homemade remedies to be made through your "Herbalism in Cauldron" mod?

2021-08-07 21:08:09 +0000 UTCI updated it a while ago to stop them... There are tests everywhere to prevent it now (and also the rabbit hole veterinary can remove the Dickensian sickness in case this still happens)

2021-05-30 11:16:24 +0000 UTCDid this new update stop pets getting sick? They're passing it around and back to each other and they're like little time bombs lol. Thanks in advance if it does, excited to give it a whirl :D

2021-05-30 08:03:32 +0000 UTCI think the illnesses need an update for pets again....my cat just caught TB and the other one has Scarlet Fever lol.

2020-12-08 01:14:38 +0000 UTCYes LMSSam mod may be in conflict... the vaccine is under the same menu as the medicine. the brewing via the cauldron too works in my game so that may be another conflict, you should be able to brew it like any other herbalism remedy with the grill and with the stove though.
Zero_
2020-12-07 04:28:35 +0000 UTCDeadly Dickensian Sickness, All my sims in my household are sick with TB, and SF. I cannot brew a cure in the cauldron, I also don't see the vaccine on the PC. Where is it at on there? Is it just the regular medicine from the game? Or is it possible that LittleMsSams Purchase Via Mail Delivery is conflicting with the vaccine purchase? Not sure on the Cauldron thing though, why I can't make the meds.. I have 7 Herbalism and 9 cooking, whether that matters.

2020-12-07 04:17:53 +0000 UTCI don't have a save for download... But probably someone made one.

2020-12-01 02:58:47 +0000 UTCHow do I find the 19th century save?

2020-12-01 01:52:52 +0000 UTCThis simply mean that when on a filthy lot sims have more chances to get sick (maxis sicknesses not mine)
Zero_
2020-11-29 18:01:35 +0000 UTCIt's compatible but doesn't interact. I don't use SOL. If you mean the hospital from the game, no... I'm going to ignore that buggy shit is even a feature, sorry.
Zero_
2020-11-29 18:00:36 +0000 UTCAlso, Maybe I am missing it somewhere.. But what is FiltyCanTriggerSickness?
Sis
2020-11-29 15:42:51 +0000 UTCSo the illness, Im guessing it is compatible with SOL? Will going to the hospital possibly cure your sim? Probably not, but I really would like to know for sure. BTW thank you for all your mods, I love them all :-)

2020-11-29 15:40:09 +0000 UTCAHH as a history simmer I'm so excited by these, thank you! I do use kids can garden though so I'll skip that one for now but excited for the rest!
