Foundry V12 update poll
Added 2024-05-01 22:13:04 +0000 UTCHey folks, so with V12 around the corner, I've been thinking about how to handle updates for Foundry VTT. I'm curious, how long do you usually wait after a major version release before making the switch? Understanding your habits will really help me plan out when to update my modules. For instance, if it's common for folks to hang tight with V11 for a few months, I might focus my efforts there a bit longer before jumping onto V12. Your input would be super helpful in figuring out my next steps!
As most of you are aware, when I move to a new version, support, updates and fixes for older versions will stop so this poll is very important!
So, When do you update after the first stable version is released?

Sometimes waiting too long can cause as many issues as updating too quickly. You have to figure out which modules you *really* need to have working before making the leap.

2024-08-24 20:54:56 +0000 UTCSometimes I wait really long. Since Midi takes a long time to update. Aswell as chris premades. So 1-2 months sometimes even longer.

2024-08-02 15:16:08 +0000 UTCI have several tables using PF1, so I can't updated until that system is v12 compatible.

2024-05-26 18:18:54 +0000 UTCUnfortunately, my FVTT stopped working correctly until I updated it. I've now been forced to download the new release, as there seemed to be no other work-around for my issues.

2024-05-26 18:18:29 +0000 UTCI'll update once the modules I'm using are updated. At the moment the ones of concern are you; Baileywiki; and Monk's Active Tiles. I'm not currently handling game mechanics inside of Foundry. Maybe if I start running GURPS. But there currently are no system modules for the other systems I like.

2024-05-15 22:56:18 +0000 UTCDepends on how actively I'm using Foundry at the time. If I'm not running any games I might update and then I'm able to provide feedback on modules. If I have active games going, then I just wait it out at least a few months.

2024-05-08 16:47:05 +0000 UTCI update as soon as core modules I use update. It usually takes a month minimum

2024-05-05 13:52:43 +0000 UTCI clone to a VM and test, will not update until it all works. Given some of our mods the pace of updating can be glacial for us. We just updated to 11 about a month ago and hate it but have found workarounds to most of the things they broke.
