This Is A CRAZY Start! | Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Episode 1 REACTION

Time to start this one and what a banger of an opening episode it was!

YES YUKARI TAMURA, REMEMBER THE NAME. I think I shouted her out as a favorite of mine when Nui popped up in KlK. And YES AKIYUKI SHINBOU. I'm like a month behind so I'm also excited when you realize the secondary lead's VA / OP singer lol.

How are you doing Nanoha and I didn't know?!? I'm actually movie-only for season 1 of Nanoha, I'll have to join for the series. So glad to see a reactor I like do Nanoha.

The shift in animation style with unique animation is the work of Kou Yoshinari. He is known for hyper-realistic animation, and animation using brushes for a painterly style. He is also the older brother of Yoh Yoshinari, the gainax/trigger animatior who is the creator of little witch academia.

Ah, the series whose creators said "what if we could direct magical girl series like a Gundam series. If I recall, the first two movies retell the first TV series with the same plot, superior animation but condensed story, creating a watch order dilemma reminiscent of the issues one encounters with Fate/Stay Night.

Ah... I just saw that those weird moments where the video stops for a few seconds and skips forward instantly also appear on this (on the YouTube version as well according to a comment). Oh dear.

Some fun stuff here, Nanoha is actually a spin-off from an Eroge named Triangle Heart that featured her brother. They made some extras for the fans and one of those things was a short story featuring the little sister Nanoha as a magical girl and it just got really popular. There is also an OVA of it but I do not think it was ever localized, https://myanimelist.net/anime/176/Triangle_Heart__Sweet_Songs_Forever. So this series and the Fate series have a little something in common, so much so that the Nanoha and Fate series have had a couple different short cross-over manga. One with Fate/Stay Night, and one with Prisma Illya.

So happy ur reacting to Nanoha. This was my childhood anime. I have a feeling you will like it a lot since it has a lot of the same energy as Symphogear and they are both amazing shows.

Just like you, I have heard this show being mentioned quite a few times before, so I just want to watch it alongside you now! Got not much to say about episode 1 though which you haven't said since this first episode barley started the plot of it. - 13:38: "So similar to Madoka" you said there without knowing the staff yet at that point. LOL - 31:24: Akiyuki Shinbou is the director who highly influenced Shaft's modern unique style of anime works as a whole. Stuff like the Shaft head tilt, usage of real life imagery and many other points... are highly influenced through him. This show however was basically right before Shinbou joined Shaft in 2004. - Notably, I saw that this was Seven Arcs' first ever TV anime after producing various adult OVAs.

Trivia time (feel free to skip this comment and coming back to it later bc while it doesn't has spoilers it does adds context for some of the things shown in this season that might strike you as important): Nanoha was originally a secondary character in the VN Triangle Heart 3 starring Nanoha's older siblings making this franchize (which btw is MASSIVE) a spin off
