The classics are races that the horses can only enter once in their second year (or first or something, but just once per generation). If you miss it, you can never run again, even if you run, you only have one chance. The rule they were trying to change was about being able to "register past the deadline" or something like that, which allowed TM Opera O to compete later and win iirc, that's why they showed her there.

Dudes who have the history of legends locked in their brain clocked in what that scene meant when it first came out. Everyone else including me only really got the basics of it down when this chapter came around. Such a sick feeling though. Oguri here is paving the way for the monster we see in RTTT and New Era

What's really unfair is that it's been shown in the game (as an alt outfit option) and anime that G2 races and below have the girls in their generic track outfits and only the G1 races is where they wear their racing silks usually. That detail was so noticeable after rewatching the ep but the first time around you will get dragged along with how good the direction is and how hype the episode is lmao

T M Opera O - the first irl horse to make use of the rule change that Oguri Cap made which allows horses of late registration to take part in the Classes ( as show in Road to the Top where T M Opera O run in the Classics next to Narita Top Road and Admire Vega ).
