In the beginning the guy says he doesn't know who to go after - meaning, who he should follow since both girls kind of ran away from him. That wasn't meant in a romantic way there but more like who he should follow to clear the waters. He wasn't being a playboy there or indecicive about his love interest. Also yeah, the ending is a banger, I also prefer it over the op.
