I had this story in my head ,young unrequited love, that ends bitter sweetly, but they meet up in their mid/late 20s finally on the same page.
Naomi lives with her aunt and uncle after her parents passed away. They try their best to be there for her, but also are busy continuing their own busy lives, so she's alone most the time.
Timothy lives with his father, who is recently divorced.His mother wanted a fresh start, leaving them both behind. His father throw's himself into his work to deal with his depression. Leaving his son to deal with his emotions all on his own. Until his new babysitter came along.

I love these two already. You have such a talent for coming up with interesting characters who have rather bittersweet stories to them. The dialog in the second version makes it very poignant I think. It's nice to know they'll end up on the same page eventually, even if the road to get there is a little rocky, too.
