Personal update

Hey everyone <3

Three great friends, Pobo and Macky and Cube, have been amazing emotional and technical support throughout this whole process, as well as all you guys on discord that help keep me going, so thank you all so much <3 I just had a convo with the mods of my discord, and i wanted to post a snippet here to explain why I’m a bit of a struggle bus right now haha.

As you probably know, I’m again past the self imposed deadline. I don’t like excuses, and I don’t have any other than the typical lack of sleep+burnout, but that’s something every creative professional needs to learn to deal with/ recognize and work around, and same goes for me.

I’ve never taken on big animation projects until these last few, and I keep challenging myself with more frames, complicated scenes, non-looping sequences, etc. I think I wanted to be able to pump these out as fast as possible, and really didn’t have any way to know how long things will take, so I feel like I keep making promises and breaking them. And without being good with updates, I know it feels like your patronage here is less valued, which I really don’t want to happen. I’m still new to this, but I only want things to improve and try to make this the best experience for you.

Right now I’m a bit unorganized, because I feel like I’m incredibly behind from where I wanted to be, so while I’m going to finish the animation before the end of the month, I want to make changes for the next one, which I’ll put in a rough list:

1) Work from 9-5 (or up to) 9-9. Wake up and answer social media questions/interact on discord for the first and last hours of the work schedule.

2) Get at least 6 hours sleep per night, NO all nighters

3) Before each monthly animation, create a calendar for that month. Detail every small deadline, create small goals, and have all this publicly accessible for all patrons.

4) Post ALL sketches, completed line work, coloring, etc immediately following its section’s completion. (DON’T wait weeks and post large updates like currently doing)

5) Stream habitually. Both while working, and host tutorial streams where anyone can come in and ask animation questions.

6) Post more sketches for twitter, gift art for random patrons, etc.

These are just a few things I want to change about myself. If there’s anything you would like to add, please let me know in the comments!! Thanks so much if you’ve read all this, I’ll be a better porn papa from here on out c: (Or at least I’ll try, spank me if I dont)

Love you all, stay safe <3

Anxiety is something I think most of us attempt to deal with, your health and well being is the most important thing. It's okay to take your time and we'll wait for the great work you'll turn out when your ready to. Take care! :)

Thank you! Means a lot <3

Aw thanks <3 but only if im a good person! If I go Rob a bank or start bullying people then you have the right to not like me anymore obviously ;D

That is true, and one side to every large project is recognizing what initial decisions in the planning stages result in exponential increases in work time

Ah that's very true! Just got 8 hours last night for the first time in awhile and it does feel great ^^ it's weird, it's not like every night I'm working my butt off, sometimes it's just me sitting there refusing to sleep because id I do, that means the day is over and I still had things I planned to finish. Dumb logic I know :p

Thank you so much for your advice! And you're definitely right, I'm realizing how continuing to work after burnout and running dry will just cause me to be slower and more unproductive than if I took a small break and worked only half that time. But yeah, thanks again ^^

Taking on projects of unprecedented complexity will naturally come with some learning curves. Just don't feel like you should constantly be pushing the envelope or you may stumble across a project that's too big to finish. Find your happy medium and we will be here to support you.

Sending love your way, fren <3

We love you no matter what <3

Having a sleep schedule is a step in the right direction, also try to stay hydrated, I always have a big glass of water on my place to drink at least 2 Liters water a day, it helps the body. And don't forget to take time for your body and well being, like taking a nice relaxing bath :) Thanks for the update and get well

Dont you worry about a thing taga. Just do what you gotta do, and remember to take care of yourself. We'll be here to enjoy your content WHENEVER you get it posted. Please dont try to rush yourself and burn yourself out. We'll still love ya 🥰.

Hey taga, I know I’m not much of an artist but I know what you’re going threw musically. I am an oboe major and I know how it feels to burn yourself out and it took me a while to find a healthy middle ground. Keep pushing your limits but do it in a way you know it won’t hurt yourself. We all love you and are not mad at all. We care for you more than anything. Keep up the amazing work and don’t let the fear of disappointing us bring you down cause you won’t. At all.

please don't feel like you HAVE to push updates too often. Like I love your work and seeing how you struggle with your health and time really hurts me <3. You have to see it like this: I am not BUYING art from you in the sense that for my monthly patrionage you HAVE to produce. I genuinly support you and enjoy if you publish art! Stay safe :)

That’s super sweet, thanks <3 I’m sure things will all balance out soon enough

Thanks! Ill try!

As someone who works closely with another animator, I know all too well the kind of tireless hours that go into it. Don't stress yourself out or run yourself ragged. It'll be done whenever it's done. We all just have to be patient <3

Hey Taga, I have so many thoughts after seeing your work and seeing this issue. Looking at your number of patrons, this is just my opinion, feel free to use and/or disregard as works best for you. Please do not take this post as my telling you what to do, just offering my own personal experience. I think you should be aiming to actively work under 40 hours a week. You are a creative person, and I have designed professionally and I know that you cannot actively be creative for 40 hours a week. That is a good way to run dry too quickly. If you're going to work 9-5, I would recommend that only be for 4 days a week. I currently work 12 hour shifts exclusively for my work and I can tell you working 12s back-to-back gets unsustainable REAL fast. If you're going to work 12s, limit yourself to 3 days a week. And then those other days take off. Recharge your batteries. The work will be better for it and I am willing to continue to be a patron and wait. Also, by my reckoning this is your second animation for us patrons. I think you are being too hard on yourself. You are still learning the work flow. I think you have been more than transparent with us, and you're showing us evidence of how hard you're working. Your work is high quality, and that takes time. I'd rather the high quality then something faster. I think you're doing great, please take care of yourself, and I look forward to seeing the end product!

This is so professional! Thank you so much for providing this update. Everybody understands times can be tough (and yes, mental exhaustion from deadlines and perceived expectations is certainly a tough time, even if you think you have no excuse), but keeping people in the loop about that is so important. I wish you all the best in your struggles!!

Aw, thank you so much for the kind words, it truly means a lot <3 and I’m doing that today! Got some sleep and am actually turning a section of my room into a little sound booth i can do voice acting and foley work in! Basically hanging up moving blankets + creating acoustic panels from insulation and hanging that on the walls. Fun project!

I hope you get better soon!! Sleep and a schedule can help a ton.

I agree you're doing a fantastic job keep up the good work, we will be here we chose to be here, because we like what you do, well at least I speak for myself I'm not going anywhere, you have my support take as long as you need, good art & animations is not an easy job takes Talent not everybody can do it I sure as hell can't.

Just dont take on too much all at once if you try and push yourself too hard its gonna burn you out and being frustrated is only gonna slow your future work down. Something that helps me when Im working on a project is to plan for your off time as well as your work time set yourself some time to just turn off your brain and recover. Hope that is helpful and Im a big fan of your work but im willing to wait if it means we get more awesome content in the future :3

We will never be mad as long as you are progressing. You need to keep yourself healthy physically and mentally. We are here for you Taga. Your work is amazing and you have never dissapointed me.

Diamondwing

Keep up the great work and don't be too hard on yourself. You're doing great.
