I feel like skateboarding is a new sport. It was inspired by surfing but has evolved into something completely different.

Wampa_One

Came here looking for this! That first UNKLE album was killer

JeanDammeClaudeVan

“Cmon show those shoulders off” had me dying laughing. Heston impression is top tier!

K-Dot

Would love it if you reviewed the third movie!

B. Traven

Maybe if the headline was “suspect uses his mom’s car as a weapon”, otherwise it probably wasn’t one of us.

WigeyInTheStreetsMitchyInTheSheets

Did Ben check the roster if a listener did crimes this new year? 2025 list?

Thomas

Blown Out The Planet of the Gapes

Chabnormal

Neville but Taylor looks way more interesting running it

Oldmancoyoteface

I definitely have met people who claim to hate the taste of water and genuinely cannot believe them.

Oldmancoyoteface

Boyz come to RI! You have 2 confirmed and possibly as many as 4 listeners here!

Kate

Real Men holds up very well as a low budget action comedy. Belushi building a nail gun is classic https://youtu.be/2QWwBqpimCA?si=r8Lpx8CSMhnuV8L5

Adam Ross

…found it. The September Shadow Wolves episode of 3 o’clock High. Thanks man!

Daniel_

Pickleball - Thought for sure one of the boyz would have been really intense into pickleball.

Mitch Ploskonka

Well I guess now ill for evermore think "Eleanor Chimpy" whenever I hear that Beatles song

DeadTiredAirplaneFriend

Wow the comment section is exactly as you guys described. I sent you guys a message, I can only imagine what those look like. 5 stars

Tait Haeme

I loved how the ape student protestors had their signs in English. Though I guess everyone is speaking English so no harm no foul

Harold!

Ryan Stanger

DAE think Stanger is a dead ringer for Count Orlok?

Harold

The second best Planet of the Apes film is actually Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 1974.

JarredPalmer

“I think you show your tue self to your lover. You think they wear the mask during sex? It’s like fuckin’ swimming with shoes on.” Ben’s rich with music and news.

Irvin

Tape fire place… lol… I just look at the burn hills and landscape!

Thomas

Hell yeah I’ll check it out

Daniel_

Maybe I somehow didn’t catch that one? I’ll have to do some digging from August

Daniel_

This is totally off-topic but it just got served to me by the YT algorithm and I feel like I needed to share it with the community who might want it. So, here: A 1985 BTS of Jim Varney doing regional ads (supposedly they shot 25 a day?? Seems like BS) with this one writer/director, before the Earnest movies or even the national ads. In a weird nightly news piece that is wrapped around a studio shoot of him doing a speech from Hamlet-- but Too, too solid flesh from Act 1, not even To Be or Not To Be. Everything about this is weirdly specific. And I had to share it or else die in 10 days or something: https://youtu.be/G1G7KQZpP3c?si=p18WhpOlx9lj_PNT

Pickleball.

Phil Landry

Hell yeah

If you want to hear extensive chimp crazy talk Stanger talked about it for like 20 minutes on a Dumbbells episode a couple months ago

Cole Trickle

I was 10 and also watched it’s crazy amount. A great cast!

Can’t I just have a normal Christmas with normal apes?

Pistachio Liberty

loved the riff about Planet of the Apes samples in techno, realized that I genuinely like an UNKLE track that does just this - https://www.whosampled.com/sample/444651/UNKLE-Nigo-Scratch-Perverts-Ape-Shall-Never-Kill-Ape-Planet-of-the-Apes-Trailer/

Kevin

Would the face slapping thing be considered a newer sport?

Darryl Bowen

I was 8 when the Burton Planet of the Apes came out. I watched it roughly 100 times between 2001-2003ish and now have not seen it in 20 years, but I’m with Stanger I like it

Jenn

Gabrus’ rant about how noticing how bad SEO is now when playing video games is so accurate. Maddening to just watch a product get worse

itsyourcousinstjean

Sorry for spraying you down when you came by caroling, my girlfriend thought the Gremlins were back

Darryl Bowen

Anyone saying water "tastes bad" never slammed a whole glass of cold water when they wake up in the middle of the night with a cold.

Michael Daniels

Yeah while it’s gotten better, it’s still generally pretty cool to be shitty about someone being fat.

Owen RX-0

Sad to hear the Boyz won’t be coming to Rhode Island, but nice to be mentioned. FUN FACT- Action Boyz favorite, James Woods, is from here and owned a home the next town over from where I grew up.

Alex

fond memories of holding my newborn daughter in 2022 at 3am dying laughing listening to the guys talk about JFK Jr's life simulator

itsyourcousinstjean

Who runs a faster mile, Taylor or Neville?

Megan

They've definitely talked about it extensively. Maybe on shadow wolves only though?

Scott Tammel

I'm with Gabrus. I hate it when I'm watching porn and then a Thought Projection Amber Alert starts firing off.

Scott Tammel

Trying to make SW into prestige drama is where they always seem to fail. The Mandalorian was just balanced enough to work for me as an adult, but none of the others reeled me in.

Adam Kronfeld

Good.

bloodflart

Came to say the same thing

Marc Davis

Doggy st…….nvm

John McClane

I realize now that the years don’t line up, but when I first saw the Fat Mutant I thought, “Holy shit, is that Dynamo from Running Man?” These are the things that occupy my mind now instead of proper verb conjugation or the ability to do higher math.

Jim

I really want to hear you guys talk about Chimp Crazy for an episode

Daniel_

Everything about your post frightens me.

Dan

We had a fully chrome test nuclear missile at weapons tech school in the Air Force that looked like the one in this movie basically so Gabrus was right

bloodflart

Oh it most definitely counts! Sean Clements is filming a Pickleball movie with Ben Stiller as we speak, babe!

Christopher Davis

There was only 1 space chase and every single other scene looked like it was shot in The Volume which is always super obvious when they use it. They've had that thing for years too. Leslie Headlund's first showrunner job so maybe she was just financially irresponsible, she did hire her wife as a lead

bloodflart

They brought up John Ritter real quickly and it brought to mind an 80s movies called Real Men with Ritter and Jim belushi, had anyone ever seen this? I think I watched it on YouTube years ago and thinking it was bad, don’t know if the abz has ever discussed it. No real point except I love John Ritter.

Rebe K

You gotta name the kid after me I swear there won't be 3 other ones in their class

bloodflart

Thank god for the boyz. Needed a buffer before new years eve. It's always been my least favorite part of the year.

Pål Christian Andersen

I’ve been a hard out on Star Wars since Mandolorian Season 1. Didn’t even give the rest a chance. Watching Skeleton Crew with my 11 yo boy and my 7 yo girl and it is CRUSHING. It is absolutely pitched at a kid tone, and it makes it more watchable for me how excited they are for it. Wouldn’t watch without kids, strong recommendation to check it out for janitors with elementary-ish age kids.

Kevin Potter

I work in tax and I don't know a ton about this type of business specifically, but enough in related areas to make an educated guess. It seems the expenditures are massive for heavy CGI on movies and tv like this, and it doesn't correlate with how good the effects look, which suggests to me they're not necessarily spending for an advantage on labor quality/quantity, or technology. I know vfx companies work their employees to death and pay them peanuts so I suspect their accounting is associating future costs and nominally related expenses with each project. I'm going to make up numbers, but I'm guessing they basically charge $100X of which $20X is actual labor, 20X is technology and overhead, $10X is profit, and $50X is treated as a production cost but is really R&D for future projects and not real costs for existing ones. Maybe if they're all PE owned there's a large amount of debt service in there as well. But spending on developing new technology is the only thing I can see justifying $100 million for effects, and I can't see it being a major cost driver for the existing movie. $100M would pay for like 200 people to spend an entire year with a great salary and very excellent hardware and software. And yet they could probably mod an Assassin's Creed game to create better vfx environments than most movies. I have to imagine most of the money is paying for engines and models that get them ready for the next project.

Bobby Beans

Haven’t listened yet, what’s the over under on The Simpsons Planet of the Apes musical being mentioned?

Nathan Maidlow

Currently listening while my wife is being prepped for the birth of my first child, as I'm sure the Boyz envision when making the show. Don't worry I won't let her listen for free, I'll start a new subscription for the newest action baby.

Bobby Beans

Hey ABZ, I’m 53 and own all the original apes movies on DVD. These movies were huge for kids before Star Wars came out. I even watched the very terrible tv show

Rich Mallon

Ape sauna scene

Horace Jallowman

The Acolyte was legit one of the worst shows I've ever seen in every single specific part of what makes a show. Acting, writing, directing, visuals, choreo. The budget it wasted is mind blowing and there's probably something illegal going on behind the scenes cause the money certainly didn't make it to the screen.

bloodflart

Beneath the Plant of the Apes or otherwise known as the "monkey style" episode

Brix

I haven’t really enjoyed any new Star Wars for years, but I always give the first episode of anything a shot. So I didn’t have much hope for Skeleton Crew but it’s actually kinda OKAY! It’s kept me interested and Jude Law’s acting is competent. It’s not so much a space western this time, but a space pirate story.

Rebe K

when people say 'trans' online were they talking about transdermal this whole time? hmm

bloodflart

this shits important.

bloodflart

Thanks for a fantastic year! Hard Ticket to Hawaii is a new favorite! Heroics get me too! Shrek 2 when Puss’n Boots tells the rest to go ahead and he’ll hold off the guards. Tears 20 years ago, tears now. No joke. Can’t think of another example atm.

VHSMIA

Speaking of new weird sports - does pickleball count? The new sports guy wants to know.

Jim Martin

"Does man... that marvel of the universe, that glorious paradox who sent me to the stars, still listen to the Actionboyz?”

PatrickKilbrogan

A grim future awaits. ‘Project 2025’ has set irreversible forces in motion, with theocracy tightening its grip. Censorship, deportations, and human rights violations will dominate, spreading pain and despair. To hope otherwise is wishful thinking. Prepare for the worst—and worse than that.

Paul

I just wanna say ABZ is far and away my favourite thing to listen to and I've been exposed to so many sick films that would've gone under my radar and, quite frankly, you guys making me laugh has helped a dog of a year be that much more bearable. Stangerbot for life.

Shoops

Oh hell yeH
