I'm glad I didn't watch this movie in the 80s. The guy who was the Dildo Creep played a sweet mailman on Alice and he did voices for cartoons (specifically Top Cat). Would've ruined my childhood.

Apparently the movie with Helen Hunt jumping out of a window after taking angel dust was NOT "Angel Dusted", but a different made for TV movie about teens doing angel dust called "Desperate Lives". I know this because of a review on IMDB for Angel Dusted that explained the confusion, presumably because they had gone through the same very rational thought process.

As a kid I once tried to convince my mom to buy me a book on how to draw "Bodacious Bad Babes." Basically a book of how to draw naked nippleless women and paint their bodies a different color as their costume.

Re: vices and whether they should be regulated, I used to be a strong proponent of "legalize it and tax it" but easy access to legal sports gambling has ruined both sports and the finances of countless families. I think sometimes a little friction between man and his id is good.

I feel like if COPS the tv show didn’t become a thing then there would have been more police vignette movies like this. Also, water is wet and the sky is often blue.

Thank God Samurai Cop was fully unedited when I watched it on Hoopla a year ago.

This is kind of a shot in the dark but is this maybe the COPS clip Gabrus was talking about? https://youtu.be/5dlvWmb-E9c?si=TiFekym8jiqMu9m5 it was part of “Naked COPS!” (in case you were wondering if COPS was as sickeningly exploitative as you remember) and was rerun multiple times (I think it was even part of the opening credits at one point). I saw it when I was 8 or 9 and it scared the living hell out of me, so it stuck in my brain as my reference point for PCP for decades.

I was 10 and I distinctly remember my mom asking me if I knew what a blowjob was when the word came up in the movie. I said it was the barber drying your hair with a blow dryer.

Just checked and the hoopla cut is about 5 mins shorter than the runtime listed on the internet at large. Interesting!! My endorsement of Hoopla still stands but buyer (or borrower) beware I guess!

The Hoopla version was definitely edited. I thought I must have totally missed the cop saying he is Italian and makes great pasta but I just went and checked and that isn't in the Hoopla version. You don't get to see "Mike" either. The war on libraries has gone way too far.

I watched all the Rambo and RoboCop movies with my stepdad when I was like 6 or 7, so same. I didn’t see Pulp Fiction until I was like 12 or 13 though. (And even then the gimp stuff went right over my head lol)

I watched this on Hoopla, but I swear it must have been some edited for TV version because I don't remember any of the bad language they refer to in this episode. Unless I'm completely desensitized to that kind of tawk.

Never done pcp myself but it’s a dissociative anesthetic similar to ketamine. There were a couple stories of people surviving crazy trauma because of the anesthetic element of the drug and that snowballed into widespread Copaganda convincing the world that pcp makes you a superhuman unstoppable psychopath. Depressing to think how many people were killed and abused from that bullshit myth. If you want to really bum yourself out listen to season 2 ep 1 of Jon Ronson’s podcast “Things Fall Apart”. It delves into the now debunked concept of “excited delirium” wherein it was listed as the cause of death for thousands of people taken into custody by police. What really happened is that cops would choke people out (ala George Floyd) and when the person would die they would chalk it up to “excited delirium”.

In a true “my brain is broken” by this podcast moment, when Stanger talks about the old late night escort commercials and all the attributes you could choose from, in unison with Gabrus I also said out loud: “sleazy”.

I first heard “bodacious set of tatas” in grade school in An Officer and a Gentleman when it aired on HBO. I sadly still call boobies that and I’m 49.
Also first heard “PCP and ANGEL DUST” from Frank Oz in Trading Places.
