The shower shit story is the craziest yet One of the funniest things I’ve ever heard

away

The higher kill count in live action Moana 😂😂😂 Gabrus sneaking in gems

Identical Quinns

I was in Chicago the weekend before this dropped and my friend told me how his old boss Michael James was friends with Andrew Davis and had roles in Under Siege and the Guardian. Love that about Davis just hooking up your hometown buds.

Oldmancoyoteface

Ben: check out Anna's Archive (I forget the exact url) for research purposes. They have an absurd amount of digitized content for free

Chicago is a great biking city. I was a messenger there. Sure, you’ve got to gear up if you’re biking in the winter, but the flatness and grid system mean you can travel anywhere you need to get like it’s a huge sheet of graph paper. 5 stars.

Cromsicle

Lexis nexis is still around yall 😂 If you're using Google to do any sort of real research, you're not going to have a good time.

Clance Scranclenuts

I might have to clip your conversation about researching on the internet (1hr17min mark) and show it to my freshman students. Its too relatable and scary lol

Joshua

Crazy that this episode coincides with it. I also found myself watching taxi driver just before the UHC thing went down. Astrology?

Cromsicle

I feel compelled to wear natural colors when I’m in nature

So, seeing as Armenia is one of the former Soviet republics, that’s as close as you’re going to get to a car rocking Soviet flags in LA.

Nathan Rodriguez

I mean google drive tells you when a shared file was last accessed and by whom

Tristan Pennell

Fun movie I’d never heard of. Gene Hackman whipping around that old Gran Fury was cool.

Wadi

Also my mom's name is Eileen, so I for sure clocked when one of the characters said the line "Come on, Eileen". Song came out in 82.

I know many an eagle-eyed viewer spotted Johnny from Angels with Filthy Souls as the building manager (1:05:00) - i did the dicaprio point at the screen for sure when i saw him.

David McElroy

Stern prob said that about Heard because he was better in Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers

Thank you Ben's brother! I ordered the blu ray during a Tubi commercial. When we do a Andrew Davis movie I get activated and write a manifesto. Sorry not sorry. My guy Chelcie Ross! Willow Springs as Berlin forest! Love the classic train cars. My neighborhood Ravenswood got a shout out via cta announcement in background. The cta station where Tommy Lee sets up is Washington/Wabash, a block down from the parking garage chase in Above The Law. The protest clash across the street from the Hilton, we were at that exact spot months ago when Trump was visiting, protesting him along other things. Also next to the softball fields where I just had an amazing season. I enjoyed researching the Cyril's House of Tiki and New Yankee Grille. New Yankee isn't there, had to make space for the Wilson red line stop improvements. Whole movie has great Uptown shots. Tiki sounded like a dope 5am south side bar. I'm determined to find the place where the Nazis met, they say "Noble and Milwaukee" and I see a church in the background, I'll figure it out. Davis' locations seem to check out and make geographical sense, not too much movie magic. I like that he uses the actual city snd the north siden and not some rich suburb like a John Hughes' movie. Emerald Society of Pipes & Drums was credited, I have to ask my "Aunt" if my "great uncle" (family friends) got to play his bagpipes for the movie, as he was a longtime emeralds bagpiper. Oh and Tommy Lee Jones in a Bears hoodie, what else could I ask for. Love getting a tour of my city from when I was born, what a treat. Looking forward to listening to the commentary track.

I wonder if any of the boyz are reading Al Pacino’s autobiography, Sonny Boy. I can’t help but read it in his current shouty voice.

Douglas Hahner

I had a few non-relatives that I'd see during the holidays who in hindsight were just lonely weirdo freaks. Now I am that lonely weirdo freak. Life comes atcha pretty fast folks.

Gil Slits

Why would they think it's not possible to flag a file nowadays. Today, everything is digital and constantly monitored. Maybe they were trolling. LOL

Chabnormal

In Berlin, those Mercedes are used as taxis.

My son wants to dress like "PM DAWN"

The Eric Roberts Experience

That makes a lot of sense.

FiddlersGreenDay

The second one is by the guys who made Crank. Great ABZ ep.

Chabnormal

I don't think that's it. Gene Hackman is an extremely skilled actor.

Antti

Hell yeah

Swear to god this a sequel to the late 2019-era Stanger is late conversations. Edit: Ok I just watched Ghost Rider one and two over the weekend recovering from surgery. The first one is kinda fun, totally bizarre, but not much is going on. The action leaves a lot to be desired. The second one is obviously lower budget and made in Romania or wherever, but there is a lot of fun action, you get a bit more loony Cage acting (but not full tilt overboard), and Idris Elba doing this hilarious roguish French accent the whole time. Plus Christopher Lambert! And here are my friends Andy (@arnoldparkstudios on Instagram) and Ben ghost riding the fuckin whip in Chicago in 2006: https://youtu.be/1xlf_rgKb98?si=tFZV_lDHgdWwjO_4

FiddlersGreenDay

It was the "beep drill" from some youth sports training thing

Great story re: Hackman's "less is more" style... he seems like a handful. https://youtu.be/DcYr-clpLSQ Gotta love how Bruce Campbell is so in awe of his buddy's ability to get Hackman to do what's needed.

David McElroy

Taking a shit in the shower and having to shove it through the drain grate is technically referred to as a “Waffle Stomp”.

One of my more memorable moviegoing moments was when an older man sat directly in front of me in a relatively empty theater during a Q&A for Sam Peckinpah’s ‘Junior Bonner’. I was annoyed until the man was shouted out as Peckinpah collaborator Roger Spottiswoode, and I told him afterwards that I loved ‘Under Fire’.

Frank Kimball

Can't wait for their take on the UHC assassin

bloodflart

Listened to an older episode the other day where they joked about geriatric dads having braindead kids because of their old cum. Later in the locker room an older looking dad was getting dressed to go into the pool with his two goofy pre-teen sons and one said he forgot his suit and the other said he forgot to put on his underwear and only had jeans.

RobertShawInJaws

Editor’s note: the sound of children playing and laughing has been removed

WigeyInTheStreetsMitchyInTheSheets

The sounds of children playing and laughing can also be quite grating.

Data Janitor

Wasn’t there already an issue with a school near Rodgers emitting loud sounds? It was some kind of bell/buzzer at the track for a gym class or something like that, if I’m remembering correctly. The writers for this podcast are really starting to run out of ideas

Jenn

Find someone who loves you as much as Andrew Davis loves Chicago. He always shot it so well and employed so many of it's actors. He definitely deserved to be awarded the freedom of the city.

Wesley Dolan

Hackman looks like my old man too

Raw Dog McQuade

I hit 45 and my brain locked it in. I'm now well on my way to 48 and my first instinct is still to say 45.

eponymouse_ponymouse

Something about turning 40 we forget to keep up what age we are. I’m always off by a year when I tell someone my age.

Daniel_

It felt like when your parent calls you by your full name. You know you're in trouble then

Zack

Skill issue.

FiddlersGreenDay

Work for the movie: the whole hikers and Berlin police thing was to stage a security breach that someone could be blamed for. Whether Hackman was the mark all along, who knows, but it set him up as a collaborator/patsy if the plan worked.

eponymouse_ponymouse

I hard a hard time buying the 59-year-old Gene Hackman as a Green Beret sergeant. They probably should've cast someone younger or given his character a higher rank. I dunno.

Antti

Stanger calls Gabris "Jon" in the cold open and it was so disorienting I almost fell over

Brix

Acne scars are a character in this movie.

Adam Lane

“I hate Illinois Nazis”
