VIDEO: Shadow Wolves September 2024

The boyz discuss what they’re watching and reading before getting into Three O’Clock High (1987).

Quick Steven Seagal story: I was working at a restaurant in New Orleans when Sifu Seagal came in. He was with us most of the night, and everyone was starstruck or pretending to be very well. I played it cool, even though I know for sure I was the only one on the staff who has seen any of his movies. At the end of the night, I go up and go for a handshake and say, "Thanks for coming in, Mr. Seagal", and Steven grabs my hand, crushes it, and says to me, "Never give your hand to an enemy". He hand long scary nails and yes, he ate 3+ plates of crabs.

The Ton o' Nookie suit. Mario 3 was huge when it was released

For a guy who had zero country credentials, Frankie Laine sure had a knack for creating catchy tunes for Western media. I’ve been on a pre-60’s western kick lately, and found a few gems here, and there. Even dipped into a little Rawhide(Speaking of Laine). The most eye opening thing I saw was Have Gun-Will Travel. Part Zorro, part Batman, and part Bond. I don’t think I’ve ever been entertained by an old tv western like this. It’s crazy that all the attempts to update this never happened. I’m guessing the issue with them, including the Eminem one was that they were going to set it up for today's times, but that seems to run counter to why people like the against the grain nature of the original show. It’s not a revisionist western, but it’s kinda playing with the setting in a tv private eye sort of way that the main character’s interactions feel opposite to his contemporaries.

Hey, I know you won’t see this comment, but I was just watching the Stunt Man (1980) and realized you would probably appreciate it, if you haven’t seen it. Very weird, a movie that loves movies, and cool action stuff.

Joe Turner

When I was 11 or 12 my sister borrowed a vcr tape from a friend on behalf of my mother, who wanted to see “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” As it turned out, that tape also had “3 o’ clock High” and “Better Off Dead” on it. We watched that thing until it snapped.

Ben Kirst

Thank you! I was obsessed with this show. Been 20+ years since I revisited. Looking forward to a walk down memory lane and a good laugh or two.

Douglas Birchwood

Watched first 20 mins last night. Some incredibly goofy moments.

David McElroy

Instead of watching the clock in school, I would wind my watch back a random amount during the last class and only look at it instead. That way when my watch showed less than 30 minutes left, I would finally look up at the clock and see that we actually only had 12 minutes left of school. That was a huge dopamine hit in middle school.

Season 1, episode 5, “Jersey Devil”

Does anyone have the X-files episode handy? I’m too lazy to re listen and too dumb to remember.

Douglas Birchwood

I am so down for the occasional ClassicBoyz episode. I'm 54 and grew up watching and loving classic movies and TV. A typical UHF channel 29 Sunday always had an Abbott and Costello movie, a Bowery Boys movie, and old cartoons from the extended Harvey Cinematic Universe. Casper, Baby Huey, Little Audrey.. the whole crew.

John Hedgepeth

Wow, what a great show. It's shot so well that it looks great on my fucking phone. And it's one of the best shows yet. All the stories about school fights were hilarious and brought up a whole bunch of my small town kid fights in my dumb DNA.

John Hedgepeth

Or Invaders From Mars?

Adam Ross

Asking if piggy could just be a janitor…that whole stretch had me dying.

WHATEVA HAPPENDA GAWY COOPAH

FYI Monkey Shines is leaving Prime in 4 days

Dustin

Just throwing into the pile for GREAT XFILES episodes. "Jose Chung's From Outer Space" has gotta be one of the better TV episodes of the 90's.... I love it so much. Not a "mythology" episode, so can just be watched alone.

David McElroy

I watched it last night too- good flick!

K. D. Campbell

One Stanger Dad story after the other. Love it!

David McElroy

If the boyz are having a hard time picking episodes of TV, they could always add like 3 more Zombie squad episodes a month or so. You wouldn't catch me complaining.

Dustin

I'd probably recommend Small Blessings, the one with Kevin Nealon, David Spade and Julie Brown. I could see them doing Werewolf of Hollywood too. My favorite episode is The Waiting Game.

Boogie

Rodgers advocating for High Noon made me happy. I think about it all the time. And the main theme is a banger on Spotify

itsyourcousinstjean

Is that Wiger?

jnortie

Because of the way he sits and rests his hand, there are more than a few shots in which it appears Stangers balls are flopping out of his white pants. I was wondering why I was so erect watching. Worth every penny.

Dan

Holy shit the Stanger fight story is unreal!!!

Daryl sakimae

Check the @reaganep Instagram from 2 weeks ago they posted all the info

My dad would turn the radio down for songs that had even vaguely sexual content (on classic rock radio lmao)

PlutoniumTorch

Being asked to bully friends by the friends dad still happens, and some of these dads are like, 30. Weird shit.

PlutoniumTorch

50s remake…think we’re getting The Blob in Octooky? Or maybe one of the later versions of Invasion/Body Snatchers

Haunted Screen

Damn, I was really hoping they’d do a Kolchak episode for Octooky’s zombie squad episode.

Joe

Monsters has a great episode with Jerry Stiller as a werewolf, kind of a guess who’s coming to dinner situation.

Conspiracy Bored

Growing up in Jersey in the 90’s, our fight spot was ‘The Glen’. Also that Hobbit Origin Story is so relatable, I think that cinches that I’m the Rodgers of my group.

Conspiracy Bored

the stuff maybe???

Brendan Crowley

Were they serious about that show in El Paso, Texas? If so, anybody have any information on that?

ryan mcgrath

he went from Riggs to D-Fens

bloodflart

Lynch is hilarious on Murderville, that show was better than I expected

bloodflart

Hahaha Jersey Devil episode is a trip, thanks Boyz. Great bad choice

The comedy they were trying to remember with Richard Tyson as a cop is There’s Something About Mary.

Adam Ross

Any guesses on the delicious hint?

Dean Thorne

It’s funny watching that clip knowing that both Pontiac and the PAC 10 don’t exist anymore

Cole Trickle

I know we're going to find out in like 3 days, but if they watch Ghoulies that's a bummer. The first one is awful. Ghoulies 2 is where it's at though!

Bill

Hell yeah

Will See

I remember my mom having a crush on Bryan Brown when I was a kid. Probably one of the few American moms who was always asking to rewatch Breaker Morant.

Tim from New Hampshire

Almost finished with Lonesome Dove and loving it. Moving onto Last Picture Show after, thanks for the recs boyz
