2024-08-19 17:23:24 +0000 UTCI haven’t watched Police Academy in years, and after just watching it off Prime rental, I gotta say this is shockingly still good. Some stuff definitely doesn’t work. Mostly anything that involves raunchy humor, and it’s pretty much because it isn’t all that graphic. Sure, you get some tits and ass, but you don’t see Harris get his head up a horses asshole. You don’t see much of Lassard getting a blow job, just his reaction… And so on. I guess if it got really graphic, it’d be hard to get dad to watch this with his kid. Fat guy is the weak link, and he’s working closely with the MVP’s in this, but he has zero chemistry. If Farley was around at the time he would’ve nailed this, and this character would’ve been in the sequels. Being fair to the actor, not enough young fat guy comedians around this time would’ve made this work. But he doesn’t seem like he’s bringing anything to this, and he’s kinda set up as the 4th, or 5th hero lead, while his co-stars have some sort of funny quirk that they are using for this. The klutz guy I remember liking. But he actually doesn’t do anything for most of this, and when he does his bits they end up being extremely generic accident guy routine shit. I’ll give the character credit, the riot he causes is a nice chuckle on the level of a Three Stooges comedic moment. When stuff works it really works. Gutenberg is doing diet Bill Murray, yet he’s amazing. Doesn’t overact anything, and really does come off as the coolest guy in a silly comedy. Bailey is almost unstoppable as Harris, and he’s in like 95% of this movie selling these comic bits. Winslow stuff should be old, and tired, yet here I am chuckling at this. If Winslow came up in the podcast era, he’d be a go to guest for Comedy Bang Bang. I think people will be shocked that the Action Boyz will end up liking this.

2024-08-17 19:54:43 +0000 UTCK9 is a movie that I really have to decide if I want to watch or not. It's not streaming free anywhere, and illegal streams aren't super easy to find either. So I'd have to rent it, which I usually do. But I have to think if I really want Jim Belushi to get more residuals because of the ABZ pop where, potentially, a couple thousand people decide that $3 is worth it. And like in a couple months, the lesser Belushi is going to get a check for a couple hundred bucks for K9, and he's going to be pumped and probably buy a Cubs ticket with the money. And we've just subjected, potentially, a couple thousand more people to be subject to him. And he'll probably be high. And badly sing "Take me out to the ball game" during the 7th inning stretch, and maybe someone will get mad enough because he didn't show respect Harry Carey or something, and they are blackout drunk, that they drive drunk, and run over some kid's cat. And now that kid is crying, and all because Jim dipshit Belushi got an ABZ pop. Fuck.
