Shepard Fairey story: I used to work for a fashion magazine in L.A., and for a launch party at the Ace Downtown, we had to physically and in real time put together each issue individually on-demand, like bespoke, on our hands and knees, for all the famous guests. I was pouring sweat, and dying for a drink. Finally, at a break, I went to the bar, which was like ten deep and chaotic, and I’m just standing in the crowd hoping for something to open up. I hear someone behind me say, “This prick doesn’t even know what’s going on.” And I turn around and it’s Shepard Fairey pointing at me. I looked him straight in the face and he floundered and turned away. Anyway, guy looks like a poor man’s Elon Musk, who, ironically, looks like a poor man’s Shepard Fairey.

Nodding along to the boys talking about how it's probably all a ruse as if I didn't buy it all hook, line and sinker when watching the doc.

Just wanted to weigh in as somebody who was Involved in that scene (I used to wheat paste for an LA artist named Tofer and for obey). It was a crazy time when an international artist could come to Los Angeles for a couple months and just put up street art and make a name for themselves, and get a show. The primary reason I had any status was because I had a minivan and I didn’t care if wheat paste got on the interior, it was almost like everyone had apprentices. When Mr. brainwash got to town his momentum was fueled by rumors of his relationship with Banksy, but more so just money. Street art was definitely a rich kids sport… where as graffiti artist would steal spray paint cans, street artists would spend tons of money on Printing, and application. LA at that time was the perfect place for hype, whether it was orchestrated or just a big personality. We all were just hoping to have our individual identity concepts hit. Obviously with somebody like Swoon it’s because of authenticity, but with others it was just volume and spending. Another great episode fellas .

Amazing episode.

For me, it seemed like what happened to the Star Wars prequel trilogy also happened to Furiosa.: You have these movies that people hold in such high regard and in ways are classics; then you use new tech to do a prequel and it sucks. I don’t think Furiosa sucked like the SW prequels but it was very “meh” in my opinion. I like the story, loved the acting. I think either the story focusing just on really young Furiosa or teenage would have worked better. The CGI and some make-up choices seemed so chintzy to me that I couldn’t NOT notice them and it took me out of the movie.

I was 11 years old when that episode of Hunter came out. My dad wouldn’t shut up about how the star was a football player. Same when Wr watched Smokey and the Bandit.

The .dog URLs are pretty cheap. My website www.catfood.dog costs $12 a year. The Texas Ren Faire is pretty nuts. The thing that makes TRF really wild are the campgrounds. Someone fuckin' dies there like once a year

Really hoping they do the Coppola Dracula this October. It’s one of those movies that when I hear someone doesn’t like it I assume they’re kind of an idiot.

Anti-Woke Ape is my new favorite ABZ character. He’s a good adversary to Pro-Woke Capt. Podcast. (Timecode 27:24)

I was a bartender when this movie came out and one of my customers claimed he went to RISD and got involved in the street art scene. At one point he got very serious and told me not to tell anyone the secret that he knew Mr Brainwash was infact Bansky. However his eyes were also starting to roll into the back of his head while he was telling me this, so take that for what it's worth.

Jimjim

I saw Furiosa when it came out and it def needed some editing to cut that length down. The following week I was gearing up to see the new Apes and that damn movie is also over 2hrs and 30min🥴

Hey you guys were incredible on Will Hines’ show last night. I was laughing so hard I think I fucked up my back a little bit.

I’m curious to hear what the Boyz think of “The Bikeriders.” That’s a pure ABZ movie.
