Thoughts After Thursday (Dec 2024)
Added 2024-12-15 11:27:32 +0000 UTCHello again and thank you for waiting for this follow-up to my write-up of Thursday’s Policy Livestream.
In some ways, I feel somewhat similar to how I did after December 2023's livestream: namely, the stream was a little woolly.

I suppose that this year, nothing major had occurred just beforehand (like the major rebrand, or the sudden vanishing of many a former Content Creator), therefore it wasn’t as reactive?
And thinking about it, a lot of the major plans were declared back in July…
Given the IPO* situation, it’s understandable that there was a lot more emphasis on the e-commerce side of things, like selling merchandise, and individual posts and gifting others membership. Something that published on the official News blog thing, here: https://news.patreon.com/articles/celebrating-another-year-of-connecting-creators-and-their-real-fans
I take no issue with that. But I was a bit annoyed that the question-and-answer session was too short, and a lot of questions asked in-stream that were picked seemed to be already answered already. There weren't as many pre-emptively asked questions (like right at the end, for a nanosecond, I saw an instance of somebody asking about the whole ... fictional relationship simulator thing) There was quite a bit of consternation from those who unfortunately had their accounts cease to exist; it’s understandable from their perspective, so in a way I’m glad that the Appeals process has been rectified somewhat. Still... 😒
I guess I feel somewhat detached from proceedings given I’m now actively on a timer on here. Illustrated as thus:

It used to scare me but not so much; kind of. I don’t know. My feelings fluctuate depending on any day that ends in a ‘Y’. I guess I felt a lot more anxious back in May or something.
Anyway, that’s all I have to say at the moment.
You can read past information in relation to this platform’s policy changes and that by clicking on the ‘Important Information’ tab at the bottom of this post (thank goodness I had the foresight to do so back when tags were a thing). Or you can simply click ► here ◄.
Stay safe, stay well and thanks for your support throughout 2024, couldn't have done any of this without your help.
If you choose to celebrate them, Happy Holidays!
Yours Sincerely,

* Initial Public Offering, which in effect means that now this platform has gone ‘public’ on the stock market, they’re looking for new investors, especially as the original ones want to collect their initial monies and profit. With this, there is way more public scrutiny on the company and therefore a stronger abidance to external influences, as we’ve seen for ourselves with certain processors, naming no names…
