This part is entirely new, but it's more I feel our characters were a bit closer than what they were in the novel. This was always the turning point for Raziel but I felt he changed his mind too quickly (things move much faster in written format, I understand how very slow it has been). So I've planned for a more believable turning point for years as a response to showing more his side and progression. Some part of it was also re-evaluating that he has indeed gone through a lot and willful ignorance was grating on people's nerves. Story had Neri as the main character, but overall both of their progression is the central plot.
Sorta spoilery if you wanna stop reading--- But the rest of the chapter initially played out with him doing this like "ohhh maybe this is a bad idea, ohhh imma try and go back on my shit, will I won't I" stuff and I'm excited to not go down that road exactly. I've got something in mind to counteract all the...depressing violence from before, haha.

They'll get back on track with each other not too far along from here, it's mostly just a different type of emphasis and a bit of growth forward, with some slippage back but about slightly more.... sensical issues. It's a detour at best, but a more logical detour. Our Novel and Comic characters have deviated a good bit from each other long before this bit already, I don't think i'd ever consider them different characters.

Honestly as a previous reader while his wishy-washyness was a little grating at times, I understood that to him, Neri is still a demon that may be trying to manipulate him so he's keeping his guard up. But I really prefer this change because it makes way more sense that he's noticing it earlier that she's not attempting to hurt then at all, even when she could. Now I'm SUPER excited for the tether scene since he's on the more trusting side now, because that implies that entire scene (and the football game scene) are going to be fairly different!
