Just saw an article that due to schedule Liv wasn't able to be in Season 3 but Alice said if there would be a Season 4 hopefully she can be a part of that.

I may have said this in another comment, sorry if so but I can't find it if I did - I'm so excited for Darcy's gender evolution, which you can see with the hair and makeup. I thought they might be wearing a binder as well. It feels like a gift specifically for the actor, and that warms my little heart.

I really regret the memories I didn’t make and the friends I lost because of it. One of the worst parts of an eating disorder is how it isolates you. Even if you’re doing better physically, the only person who really knows how much mental strength some meals take is yourself. But the voice in your head rarely says you did well afterwards. I wasn’t sure I was gonna make it through my mid twenties either but I’m glad we both did. It’s only up from here!

It truly means a lot because sometimes it feels like I’ve made no progress and then other days, I’m proud of myself for coming as far as I have because it was really bad through my teens and mid twenties. My family was worried I wasn’t going to make it. I don’t know how I did, to be quite honest. The man thing I struggle with now is the guilt whenever I take a bite of something and how I always tell myself I can’t have a snack with friends while watching a show because I already ate a full meal. I don’t enjoy food the way most people do, I’m never like “oh wow, this sounds good, I want this to eat” etc. I just eat to survive. I just gave away some candy from Halloween that wasn’t expired ‘cause I bought it when I was having a good week and then I didn’t want to look at it anymore. Anyway, sorry for the word vomit!! It’s just I think about it when i watch anything Heartstopper related. For what it’s worth, you expressed yourself well. Thank you.

Your openness about your experiences is deeply appreciated, and I want to acknowledge the bravery it takes to share your journey. While I haven't been diagnosed with eating disorder-related conditions, aside from being pre-type 2 diabetic, which I don't consider an eating disorder, and as someone with a neurodivergent condition, I may sometimes struggle to express myself clearly. I actually used ChatGPT to help articulate my thoughts😅 but please know that my comments are genuine. Both Jay Jay and your willingness to discuss your eating disorder is something I'm truly grateful for as well and something I really appreciate about this platform and ASWT in general.

Do NOT exhale throughout this process (unless, of course, you're about to pass out). Take a deep breath and hold for 5 seconds, inhale more and hold for 5 seconds, inhale more and hold ... you get the idea. When you can't inhale again, Exhale and enjoy the rest of you day.

I’ve literally walked out of places because one of my friends snuck one (I have one friend that likes to take pics of everything). I will take pictures of myself but it takes me two hours to find one that I don’t hate and want to cry over. I also avoid mirrors. I comb my hair (what hair I have, it’s short) by looking at my phone screen while it’s off. I know it doesn’t sound like it but I am doing much better with a lot of work. I’ve put on some weight during the pandemic which I’m still trying to get okay with, but I’m a work in progress. Thank you for saying you’re proud of me. It feels like no one is sometimes. I’m proud of you as well. We got this!! ❤️

What do you think of straight actors portraying queer characters (such as Nicholas Galitzine, whom I absolutely adore)? I know there is some debate on this, just wondering what your take on it is. Are you okay with it if they're the best choice for the role and if they're an ally minimally? Or would you rather queer roles be played by queer actors?

During the worst phases of my ED I would try to never see myself in the mirror after showering and I absolutely HATED people taking pictures of me, especially if I wasn't aware of it. Even taking off my hoodie in front of my best friend became impossible. These days I'm doing a little better but I still avoid catching a glimpse of my reflection when I pass by a store window. I trust Alice to find a way to incorporate it into the show. On another note: I'm so proud of you for trying to get better and I hope you can feel comfortable in your own skin again soon! And with respect to Kit’s comments about sex, if they are faithful to the comic, I think the sexual exploration will be appropriate.

2024-03-23 12:02:05 +0000 UTCI am sort of hoping they touch on sexual intimacy and how being naked can affect that when you have an eating disorder. I have food issues, the same as Charlie, and at my lowest point, I DID NOT want to be intimate at all with my girlfriend or more specifically naked. I watch Charlie being cold and covered up all the time and I think "That's me" (even though he's much much younger than I am) because I am always covered up. Even now that I'm much better than I was (I've put on some weight), I still struggle every day and I'm always in a sweatshirt/hoodie if I can get away with it. Or long sleeves if I can't. I still struggle with being naked also. I will sit around in my house naked sometimes, but usually, I get disgusted and it ends as fast as it began. And forget about letting someone else see me naked with the lights on... NO MA'AM. Not even just sexual intimacy either. They can just be at the beach and have Charlie not have his shirt off and someone asks why, that would be cool too. These days, I look like Wednesday Addams (from the movie) if I want to swim. LOL.

That might keep the rating low and also provide further representation especially around discussions of boundaries and comfort. I am interested to see how they play it

2024-03-22 19:31:56 +0000 UTCThe good thing about Season 3 not being released until October is that it gives Alice a bit of time to chill. For Season 3, she was both drawing Volume 5 of Heartstopper and writing the script simultaneously. This time, if renewed for a 4th (and final) season, Alice has time before October to work on the final volume of the graphic novel (Volume 6), so it will lessen the workload a bit, hopefully! Alice has been pretty much nonstop working on Heartstopper as a graphic novel since 2016, and a TV show since 2020, all as the sole creator and writer, so this will be a much deserved little breather for them!

I've seen some on my own with the casts of Heartstopper, Young Royals, Fellow Travelers...etc, that have been really, really good. I'm really excited for this new season of Heartstopper. October will be here before we know it. I'm afraid this season is going to be a lot darker than what we've become accustomed to with Heartstopper, but we'll get through it!

2024-03-22 12:14:42 +0000 UTCI think you shouldn't be too worried because they cover Volume 4 and 5. Alice Oseman has already stated various times that if Netflix gives the okay for a fourth season it would be Volume 6 and Nick and Charlie. The fourth season depends on Netflix.

One thing I will say, as someone who's read all of the comic - it's clear that season 3 is going to be the last one. The fact that they're at the summer fete, and one of the shots of Tori grabbing Charlie and pulling him off to the side - that's a scene that happened at the end of the most recent volume - they've skipped waaaaay ahead in the timeline, so we may not be seeing a season 4, or if we do, it'll be focused solely on the final volume (6) that's not out yet. A little bummed that so much is being skipped over, but also it makes sense. As much as I want more more more Heartstopper, the actors will definitely want to move on from it - they've been doing it since they were teenagers and they've found all this fame now. All beautiful things must come to an end :')
