Love your videos! I’m also an ally :) Will and Grace was a big one we watched when I was a younger teenager. You all are younger than me, so probably were too young for this, but Queer as Folk was another one. When you talked about how before Heartstopper, kids would be watching R rated gay shows in secret, queer as folk came immediately to mind. It was groundbreaking at the time, but watching it more recently it’s kind of cringe. Keep up the great work!

I want to recommend to all who read the comment section to go and watch a new Hulu documentary called NEVER LET HIM GO (this seems like a riff on the British author Kazuo Ishiguro's book called NEVER LET ME GO, but completely unrelated). NEVER LET HIM GO starts off as a small story of a gay American living in Australia, and goes in such unexpected directions that eventually grows to national impact. It is also about the devotion of his straight brother to find out the truth. It's a three part series where the story spans decades. It's a challenging watch, but very insightful. It's a "story worth watching". Second, interviews. When I binge-watched Heartstopper Season 1 earlier this year (nearly a year after it came out), I watched interviews and the minor characters (Tobey Donovan who plays Isaac and Cormac Hyde-Corrin who plays Harry and Kizzy Edgell who plays Darcy) did hour long interviews with relatively people from unknown YouTube channels. I think ASWT worth telling could snag a few such interviews. These interviews often tell a different side to the roles they play. For example, I don't know Cormac's orientation, but he's so unexpectedly different from Harry. Very thoughtful. In particular, Cormac has ADHD and wants to make his own movies. It's interesting how actors have to take roles that aren't as nuanced like Harry (a bit two-dimensional) to further their careers. So, queer-related documentaries (NEVER LET HIM GO) and interviews with shows you've reviewed (I think the actor's strike has affected British actors less).

I think for me my hope for future LBGTQ+ representation is that it's not longer seen as a genre, it's just there in most stories that it never needs to be pointed out as containing representation.

2023-10-27 23:20:34 +0000 UTCYOU GUYS ARE INCREDIBLE! i guess you already know this - but not just anyone could have run with the idea josh had and amde it work. you both are so incredibly funny, wise and just an overall joy to watch. i've learnt so much from the commentary you've given in different shows and about different characters. you are unique and you are what makes "a story worth telling" the amazing success that it is. i hope that you continue to be able to achieve more of your goals with the channel and the idea and that more people find you on patreon and support you. also, omar rudberg is incredible and out of everyone i'd love to meet him. he's so incredibly gifted and creative - still blows my mind that "young royals" was his first acting role. keep up the incredible and important work! thank YOU! nigel owens! that's incredible! i was born in new zealand, but live in australia so i'm an all blacks fan (kinda by birth) but it always amazed me how brilliant he was. he was himself, everyone knew it and i never heard anyone say a bad thing about him - because he is a great communicator and a great referee. it's inspirational in a male-dominated sport that he was so confident about being himself. as we all know, usually in some sports more than others, there's a tendency for men not to disclose their sexuality because of being ostracised in the locker room, by fans, by opponents etc. i'm so glad to hear you say that and what an awesome role model. i really miss that he no longer referees international games either because he had a firm, calming presence and was so good at what he did. sorry for ranting! wait! is brad "brad evans?" i was watching his GoT vids recently haha.

I was watching "The Amazing Race" with mum, and one of the teams consisted of a mother and her son, Luke and Margie. During one episode, Luke and Margie were discussing his sexuality. At that moment, I said to my mum, "Mum, I'm like Luke," to which she replied, "I know." It was a bit of a shock, but looking back, I think she probably knew about my sexuality since I got caught shoplifting some gay magazines from a news agent when I was 16, and she had to pick me up from the police station 😅. I'm not sure if they discussed the specifics of what I was attempting to take or just the act itself.

"I am an ally" like Imogen ;) I must say that watching creators from the LGBTQIA+ community on YouTube has changed my perspective on many things. Even though I know what people from the LGBTQIA+ community struggle with, I think I've never really had the opportunity to learn about it all from their perspective. For example, watching the reaction to Heartstopper kind of opened my eyes and allowed me to look at this series from a completely different perspective and understand how much impact it has on people's lives and how important it is. And I am grateful for sharing your thoughts, experiences and opinions. I think this is important not only to other people from the LGBTQIA+ community but also to straight people. I think we need to learn more about each other so that we can better understand each other and our points of view. I love you guys and thank you for being here :)

If I were stuck in a tvshow/series for a month, it sure wouldn't be Squid Game, I don't think I'd last long 😆 Maybe more like Scooby Doo; One of my favorite cartoon Series, (my other favorite cartoon is Courage the Cowardly Dog, but I don't know if I'd like being stuck in the middle of nowhere 😆) or maybe one of my favorite Danish Tv series Seaside Hotel( a drama/comedy series that starts in the late 1920s and will end in 1946 next year, and there is a queer couple; a count who for quite some time struggles with accepting/coming to terms with his sexuality and a guy Who draws advertisements but in later seasons becomes the chef at the small hotel.) I love The great british bakeoff, we have a danish version too, but I don't bake that much myself and might struggle with the time limit. 😆 Like Josh I love to read too. I love to read a lot of different genres, but my two favorite writers are Stephen King and Jan Guillou.
