HEART BREAK HIGH EP 6 UNCUT

Comments

See I thought Sasha was a red-flag from really early on! She tells Amerie in the first episode that she can't stand people who don't own their shit when Amerie tells her (truthfully) that Harper also made the map - which come on, even the teachers knew that they just couldn't prove it - but the reason she's pissed about the map is cause it exposed her having been untruthful with Missy and she blames that on Amerie. Pot meet kettle. And her activism always seems so performative like she wants to be seen as doing something and as better than other people. Then on top of that is the way she treats Quinni, she infantalises her so many times, like the assumptions about the drugs at the slay ball and that she'd be *responsible* for Quinni if she took something, and her whole attitude towards Quinni's autism (the way she tells that other girl Quinni's 'on the spectrum' is awful). And then 'I did this *for* you - I'm pretty sure Quinni never asked her to go or expected it, she was more than happy to go solo and meet up with her friend and other fans and let Sasha do her thing at the party. Sasha invited herself and then screwed up something Quinni had been planning for probably months. Also - I can't stand Spider, honestly, but I think Dusty is 100% worse. Spider is awful but he is also open about it, like he doesn't run around pretending to be something completely different he just is an asshole. Dusty acts like he's such a good person and tries to paint himself as the victim but he's not - the only time I would say i agree with him is that if he was upset in the aftermath of the threesome and it wasn't what he thought it would be or regretted it, that's valid, he has a right to those feelings but he handles it poorly (I will say though, it would interesting to see how people reacted if the genders in that scenario had been reversed with how Harper reacted as well). But he doesn't care about how the threesome blew up Malakai's relationship, and he uses Amerie's feelings for his own selfish gain to mess with both Malakai and Harper

Elspeth Clarke

And the way she dismisses the thing she is so excited about. "Oh, people are actually into this" and just looking miserable the whole time bringing her down. You never had to go! She would've enjoyed it so much more alone.

I agree with you. I don't think Sasha is a really nice person. I get so angry every time watching this episode. I love Quinni! She is amazing and deserves so much better. Fair, Sasha doesn't fully understand, but she could try a bit more. Also the way she said the "she's kind of on the spectrum" in the bus. Argh!

It’s the headmistress’s dog, it was in her office in the first episode

Untreated chlamydia in women can cause infertility and lost pregnancy.

the actor that plays Quinni, Chloe is autistic herself and when i watched the meltdown it hit me in a way that as a autistic person myself as i don't see myself on screen much. love is show

also who the F does sasha think she is to throw that "normal" line out and then when quinni tries to defend herself it's "don't play the autism card" like i'm sorry but us defending ourselves is NOT us playing some card. i hate that so much. whenever some is being a bully be it a parent or teacher or friend or partner and when the person being bullied tries to speak up and give an explanation and defend themselves, it's seen as talking back, or playing a victim, etc. and we are just supposed to?? shut up and smile and nod?? ugh!

emily ღ

sasha is lowkey such a nightmare!! she has so much growing up to do and idk why she got into a relationship with an autistic person if she doesn't want to *be* *in a relationship* with an autistic person. like someone said above, darren does it all right and all so well and they're not even a romantic partner. yet they get it and never acts like being there for her or showing her empathy is going out of their way or putting them out to do so. and yet sasha over here....like why do that to someone? why persue a relationship with an autistic person if you're not wanting to deal with what their autism is and is like?? i feel like people like her do things like this for "good person points" without taking into consideration much else.

Love Quinni’s plotline in this episode, it’s so effectively portrayed. Sasha definitely needs to grow up a LOT. The consistent solidarity between Missy and Malakai is so heartwarming; they’re both First Nations people and you can see missy checking in with him every so often, asking how he’s doing (and her brother Jai was amazing on the roof, exactly what Malakai needed.)

Seeing how Chloe played Quinni in this episode brings me to tears every time. It was the first time EVER that I felt my experience being portrayed on screen (which is saying a lot considering how much tv I watch). It becomes almost difficult for me to watch in some instances because it reminds me so specifically of how I felt during various points in my teenage years. I have made so many of my friends and family watch this show specifically because of how much I resonate with Quinni. Having such authentic representation is really what makes this show so exceptional! Also, I am right there with you guys - putting Dusty in that knight costume made it so much more difficult to focus on hating him during that part of the episode because he looked so hot!!! It was not until my second rewatch that I realized his entire purpose for hooking up with Amerie was to make Malakai and Harper mad.

This series has been challenging for me to get connected with but I’m working my way through.

The cuteness of Quinnie’s “bye dads!” though ❤️🏳️‍🌈

Jennifer Carrigg

Love this episode for having such great autistic rep. It’s the best I’ve seen as far as making it so clear to viewers what Quinni’s experience is like, from needing routines and that calm transition time, to the joy of talking about and sharing (or trying to) her passion with someone she cares about, the effects of overstimulation, and what meltdowns can look like for autistic teens & adults. Not to mention how not to behave if you’re an autistic person’s partner. Sasha has been only shallowly supportive from the beginning, but was so far out of line here. I was fuming the whole time. Couldn’t ask for more. Agree with others that Alex was correct - it’s neurodivergent.

Rowan Cannell

I know right? I’ll admit I watched ahead, and man, the darkness continues. The final scene of the season was so powerful.

Jennifer Carrigg

Darren goes by “they” as pronouns, but I completely agree! It’s great to see this ongoing supportive connection Darren and Quinnie have had going on! Darren was tuned into her excitement for the book event coming up when they were discussing plans, and then was there for her when she needed comfort.

Jennifer Carrigg

I can't wait to see how you react to the last 2 episodes!

Heidi Roush

I really loved that they showed Darren being there for Quinnie again, because it contrasts greatly with Sasha's presence in her life - It's clearly not too much for Darren! And they never act like it costs them anything. They just know her well and sometimes bring what she needs to their relationship. It's a blueprint for any friendship, really, and just takes a decent person.

Natalia Karyaka

I knew you’d be excited about Quinni having two dads ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 I was too 🥰 In the words of Josh: RE👏🏽PRE👏🏽SEN👏🏽TA👏🏽TION

Frances

FYI: 'neurodiverse' refers to a group consisting of people with different neurotypes. Alex is correct in referring to a singular person as 'neurodivergent', because one person can't be diverse. 'Diverse' exclusively refers to a group being varied! (e.g. a group is racially diverse if it contains people of different races, but a person cannot be racially diverse on their own because there is nothing to diverge from, if that makes sense.)

Noah

as a psych student i would like to clarify that it is neurodivergent ahaha

Grace Pryor

Never clicked so fast 😂
