Hey Patrons!
We're excited to bring you Stability Matrix v2.15.0-dev.1, packed with significant improvements, headlined by a feature many of you have requested: You now can select the Python version used for Package installs!
We automatically download and install new selected versions - they remain managed within Stability Matrix, so it won't affect the rest of your system environment. Alongside this, we've supercharged our Python dependency management by switching to uv for dramatically faster and more reliable Package installations. Dependency caching is now localized within the SM data folder for easier size tracking and clean-up.
These new Python installs will likely also fix previous compatibility issues related to setuptools on Windows due to differences in the embedded Python build. We've updated the default base Python versions for new installs of compatible Packages to take advantage of performance improvements, but you can always pick your own version for consistency / experimenting in the Advanced Options. We've also added the handy ability to rename your installed packages for better organization, accessible from the package 3-dot menu.
Thank you all for your amazing support!π
