Teams

The new update for the Horde is out, and it implements worker teams!

A worker team is a voluntary association for any worker to join. By default a worker belongs to no team, but with a simple API call, they dedicate their worker to a specific team.

Joining a team starts accumulating stats from the worker. Any time these workers gain kudos or gather uptime etc, the cumulative amount for that team's stats is also updated.

A worker can move in or out of a time at any time, but the amounts they generated while in that team, stay in that team.

Joining a team is purely cosmetic and has no utility on its own. It is only there to promote a sort of noble competition between workers. The idea was inspired by things like the teams of Folding@Home.

We already have the first team, which is called Mutual Aid and is the official Stable Horde team. By joining this team you dedicate your worker to the Stable Horde itself. If you already have a worker on the horde, you can copy paste this script in bash (or git bash in windows).

Any trusted user can create their own team(s). The reason I restrict it to trusted users only is to avoid people just spamming new teams without having a worker to back them up. Creating a team just needs a team name, but you can optionally provide a short description. Once you do, you'll receive a unique ID which you use to join your worker to it.

I can't wait to see what kind of team orgs you come up with and how you use the new feature. Tell me what you think!
