A little survey... (please respond!)
Added 2023-12-18 16:27:53 +0000 UTCHey again! Hope you've been enjoying the new cover art! I had a question regarding the printed version of Swirl&Cake.
I was told I need to fill out an additional few pages (8-ish?) to finalize the book for printing. I'm trying to think of fun stuff to put in there, so I'm considering sketches, WIP stuff, the character refs... anything. Ultimately, my question is this: should I include some (poll) illustrations I earlier called "Patreon exclusives" in the printed Swirl&Cake book / digital distribution? These would all have a paywall associated, so it's not like I'm giving them out for free. I'll let the majority decide. If it's not ok, I understand, I just have to find other ways to fill the remaining space. Please give your answer and explain why below.

You should totally do it dude! People still need to buy the book for the extra stuff and wip. Its no different than being a patron in here, y'know?

2023-12-18 21:23:59 +0000 UTCI also think that having both characters ref sheets and the patron exclusive are a good addition, especially for those who bought the book but not on Patreon

2023-12-18 21:06:47 +0000 UTCI think it's fine. It's still an item that has to be paid for, so it's not any different than Patreon really. TBH, I'd be fine with all the Patreon stuff being made public a couple months after you release it here. We should see it first, then it rolls out ~2-3 months later to your public accounts. No reason everyone can't enjoy your art if they can't afford to pay for earlier access.

2023-12-18 17:16:01 +0000 UTCI'd say yes. It's S+C related and pertinent to the comic so it belongs in the book

2023-12-18 17:04:57 +0000 UTCI think it'll be fine to have those illustrations in the book. They'd still be paying for it, like any other patron.

2023-12-18 17:03:40 +0000 UTCI think it is fine. In the future just make sure to label which images are patron exclusive and which are book illustrations. I suggest that for future illustrations for books place them on a Google drive for higher their patrons.

2023-12-18 16:51:00 +0000 UTCI think that since it is a special physical product it makes sense to have it include the pattern exclusive stuff. It makes it more complete and like you said, it still is behind a paywall to support you . I say go for it

2023-12-18 16:47:35 +0000 UTCI think you should include them. I honestly don't support the Patreon for perpetual exclusivity, so it doesn't really matter to me. Plus the book will be a paid product so it doesn't really effect it being paywalled

2023-12-18 16:38:50 +0000 UTCI'd say go for it. From a Patreon benefits pov, I think the images have been exclusive for quite a while and it's not like these images are just gonna be posted to twitter for everyone to see, they'll still be kept exclusive to a part of your audience even if it isn't just on Patreon anymore.

2023-12-18 16:31:44 +0000 UTCYes! At least this first time! In the future make sure it's clearly defined which ones will stay Patreon-exclusive forever, and which ones won't! Maybe the higher tier stuff will remain exclusive, so as to incentivize those tiers more? :3
