Weekly Status Report

Good afternoon,

It's Friday again and time to tell you about my work over the past week.

This week, my main focus was on Verena's scene. I had already given a little teaser about this before the 0.6.0.6 update, but at that point I had only worked on one of the animations for this scene. Over the last week, I have now been working on various position and transition animations to complete it. The editing is done by now, but I'm still in the middle of rendering the background images, which will keep me busy for a few more hours.

While the work on the images took the majority of my time I also worked on some bugfixes early this week which lead to another hotfix for version 0.6.0.7 (see the changelog for details).

Another thing I've been working on (because I just couldn't only work on images the whole time) were a few more steps on the story progression. There I've been working on a mechanic to deligate work of the rebuilding process to cultists so that the MC doesn't have to build everything by himself. From what I've gathered most of you weren't exactly happy about the minigame that I added, so this way you won't have to do it anymore. The goal was never to have you do this over and over but only 2-3 times and of course for those who want to do it more often. I have a few more plans for mechanics around Darkholt and I hope that I can finish working on them in the coming week (and don't worry, no more minigames).

Speaking of next week, I have a few things I want to get done by the end of it.
First, of course, there is Verena's scene. After doing all the preparatory work this week, I hope that inplementing the images and writing the scene won't take too much time.
I also mentioned more interaction around the carpenters house in my last report, that is then also something I want to work on + maybe more animations in case I need them.

And then of course the mechanics around Darkholt. I don't want to spoil my story plans at this point so for now let's just say that I have to find a good balancing for the work/payout that everything there has. In the past, I often only roughly estimated the economics of the game, something I will have to fundamentally recalculate and adjust in the future. For this next thing I will try to do it right so that putting time into it gives a good payoff, we will see if it works out.

So, there's a lot to do over the next week, but today I'll have enough to do with the rendering. I'm going back to that now and wish you all a relaxing weekend!

I actually liked doing the Tetris minigame, it makes the game more interesting
