Patreon's New IOS/Apple Billing

If you are a current Paid member, and stay a member you should not be impacted by these changes, this is only for new members.

Subscription based billing: This means if you sign up on the 15th, you will always be charged on the 15th of every month going forward. If you were to not renew at the 15th, you would not get access to any content posted after the 15th of that month, while previously you would still get access to the entire month even if you cancelled mid month. This also means if you sign up on the 28th of a month, you will not be charged again on the 1st of the month.

IOS/Apple Fees: If you are subscribing, or paying for any content through The Patreon App on an apple device (such as an iphone, ipad etc) you will be charged 30% more than if you were on a browser or android. This is due to changes made by apple and the apple store. We encourage you to purchase your subscription on a computer, or a browser rather than through the IOS app to get the lower pricing. If you subscribe through a browser, you should still be able to log in onto the IOS app for no extra charge. The charge is simply for using Apple's system to charge Patreons.

Buying a $10 Sub on a browser or android: $10

Buying a $10 Sub through an IOS App: $14.50

What does this mean for Patreons?

For current paid Patreons, it should mean nothing. We have been told that nothing will change to those currently subscribed.

For new Patreons, it just means you will be charged on the day you sign up each month, and that you should try to purchase the subscription on a non IOS app or in a web browser if possible.
