Members Only Poll: Shaping the future of Slice of life VR

Update: I have read and will continue to read all comments through this Sunday. I will try to respond to each comment by this Sunday night also. It’s a mixed bag as I thought lol. In a nutshell, it appears people are enjoying the mix, although some additional voice overs used judiciously would be appreciated, but only sometimes, with priority given to on screen conversation that could also sporadically include some additional background information on the given scene location. Lol yes hugh hou does do more voice overs incorporated style, but rest assured I will not turn into this style as I do not enjoy it. My heart lies in creating a perfect mix that really makes Vr shines with immersion being front and center. I gather I just need to keep working on getting better - and believe me I spend every single day creating content and brainstorming on improvement. It consumes most of my waking hours. So as long as you are all by my side, I will only continue to improve :)

Original: I honestly love what I have created so far with your support. Each experience is better and better quality. And as you may know, I am constantly looking for ways to improve.

One of the principles I have stuck with is that an immersive experience should be “experienced” . Meaning having too many voice overs would detract from the enjoyment of the experience since it would break immersion.

But I am starting to think I may have taken this concept a bit too far. I am leaning towards a mix of a lot more voice overs but still having moments where there is no voice over. What are your thoughts on voice overs? Are they to immersion breaking? Would you like to hear more interesting stories about the places we are visiting through voice overs?

Note: Strasbourg failed render so the release was delayed to this Friday night/Saturday Morning

Comments

The Strasbourg episode was excellent. Just a little voiceover and a little music.

Personally, I really enjoy the intro and outro voiceovers, live interactions with people, and I think a few additional mid-roll type explanations/setup would be nice. I would prefer that it not be "fully narrated" for every step; however, like any good walking trip with a friend/acquaintance/co-worker, hearing their genuine thoughts at the moment is nice. For me, too much or too little is easily thought of like that co-worker who is creepily quiet, or conversely just won't shut-up! :) You've done such an amazing job on the videos thus far, I'm confident if you take a planned/thought out approach to some more voice overs it will go over incredibly well. Keep up the wonderful work, we appreciate it. Your work and approach is why we subscribe!
