YouTube VR limits all 8k 3D 60fps VR180 videos to 4k 3D Max resolution. Even on Meta TV, when you search for 8k video, you will find that all the videos on there are filmed with low bitrate consumer grade 8k cameras that suffer from distortion, vertical disparity, bad color balance on right and left eyes. All of this degrades the quality greatly and is far from what your Quest 2 / Quest 3 headset can actually look like.
For VR video, you require 8k resolution at high bitrate to truly see what a VR headset is capable of. Quest 2/3 display panels are about 2k x 2k . But because the pixels are spread over 180 degree field of view, you require 8k video to deliver the needed 2k x2k viewing window.

How to watch:

Download to PC first. Connect headset to Pc with a USB cable.
Put headset on and allow connection to PC.
Take headset off. Transfer the video you just downloaded to the “movies” folder on the Quest 2/3. The video will appear under “Your Media” on the Meta Quest TV app.
-Quest 3 ONLY*
*Yes it will download in the Quest 2/Pro headset, but it will NOT play in stereoscopic 3D unless downloaded to PC first then transferred to "Movies" folder and viewed with TV app*
Download using the built in browser. The video will appear under “Your Media” on the Meta Quest TV app. This method is less reliable and may fail to download, even on Quest 3. Download to PC first for best reliability.

The video is 180, but the audio is now immersive 360 spatial audio (can hear sounds from all around you like in real life) 360 video spreads the pixels out to much, so 180 video is much higher resolution than a 360 video - this is why 3D 180 video is preffered over 360 video. An 8k 360 video actually has HALF the resolution of a 3D VR180 video because the 8k pixels of the 360 video are spread out over twice the surface area of a 180 video.
