A fun fact that really hammers home the surprise of River Light winning despite being a “no name” is that River Light isn’t even the real horse’s name. Cygames didn’t get the rights to use Marialite (River Light’s actual name). Marialite’s sire (father) is Deep Impact which was one of the best horses of all time but isn’t in Uma Musume. But she is also related to El Condor Pasa
