This is why Nice Nature is the best Uma. I love her to death. Playing her career in the game really makes you want to root for her. Being known as the Bronze Collector is rough. Good enough to always be on the podium... but never good enough to take first. That's her reputation. Also, just look at S2's races again for a second... Imagine getting 3rd place, 3 times in a row, in the biggest fan ballot - The Arima Kinen - for 3 years straight. You have to imagine she's sick of hearing the #3. I love when we get her thoughts in a race as a competitor all throughout S2 because she wants so much to get first... but you can tell that more then that she just DOESN'T WANT 3RD.
S2 sheds light on her mentality but S3 is where they really show what makes her so cool. Her sharing that experience... of wanting to be the star. Of wanting to beat the stars. Of wanting to prove herself worthy of those wins/titles even if "the star wasn't their to claim it". It's so perfect for a natural cynic like her to mentor Kita-san in this situation. It's nice hearing Spica, Trainer, etc worrying about her. But she needed someone like Nature to help her in this situation. Because at the end of the day Team Spica is a team of superstars.
I also love how super right Nature is when she starts the conversation. Just telling her that it might be easy to share your struggle because they barely know each other... and that if Kita-san is comfortable with it she can be the silent ear she needs. Such an amazing person.
Unrelated to Nice Nature... Remember when you kept asking about the Rubiks Cube? You got your answer! It was symbolic!

What’s interesting is that at the end, Gold Ship issues a challenge to Orfevre and Gentildonna. Both are Uma Musume who have yet to appear in any of the anime media but are in the JP version of the game. Both were absolutely dominant in the era Gold Ship was in, just before Kitasan’s career began.
IRL Orfevre is Gold Ship’s brother and was nicknamed The Tyrant. He won 6 G1s, including the Classic triple crown and the Arima Kinen twice.
While Gentildonna (who recently passed away) was one of if not the most dominant mares (female horses) of all time. She won 7 G1s including the Triple Tiara which is the mare equivalent of the Triple Crown and she also won the Japan Cup twice.

I intended to go over Uma histories but since you guys actively reacted to horse lore I decided to switch that approach. (I already typed out the entire history of Vodka, Scarlet and ***** ******) so instead I’ll give random facts.
But first Gold Ship. As you seen this was Gold Ship’s last race. Now I won’t go over his history as you guys might want to react to that but I will inform you that Gold Ship has siblings. Most of whom are in Uma Musume and were monsters on the track like Golshi. There is a good video going over each one and their eccentricities, as it was hereditary. (The video I believe does have slightly spoilers for CinGrey but I’ll tell you what to skip closer to Livestream time) I won’t go over them as to allow you to react to them but I will name them.
Stay Gold- the shared father of all of them. Nicknamed “The terrorist of the racecourse” (earned I.M.O.)
Dream Journey- Son of Oriental Art (Stay Gold’s one true love). Raced against Vodka and Scarlet.
Orfevre- Son of Oriental Art. My favorite and technically the most accomplished sibling numbers wise.
Nakayama Festa- Son of Dear Wink. Haven’t researched much.
Fenomeno- Son* of De Laroche. (Castrated so he’s now a Gelding) Since he can’t breed anymore he has a new job after retirement, teaching young horses the basics of racing (so cute)
Gold Ship- Son of Point Flag. (temperamental horse) Chaos Incarnate
Also all their Uma versions can sing incredibly well for some reason.
Lastly is one not in Uma Musume but needs to be mentioned.
Oju Chosan- Son of Shadow Silhouette. Considered to be Japan’s #1 Jump horse ever. 9 J-G1 wins in a country with only 2 a year. An absolute monster of Steeple Chase racing. However since Uma Musume is only flat racing he isn’t included but should be celebrated none the less.
I also want to honor a horse that passed away recently Gentildonna. She passed away November 25th of this year. Her record was 19 races and 10 wins with 7 being G1’s. She took all three legs of the Japanese Triple Tiara, a filly only version of the Triple Crown. Along with 2 Japan Cup wins back to back. An overseas G1 in the Dubai Sheema Classic. Finishing off her career with a win at the Arima Kinen. An absolute monster mare taken too soon.

Everyone sees the memes and the goofball antics of both the Uma version and the IRL version of Gold Ship and those are all very accurate but in reality he was also a fantastic racer and is without a doubt a true legend with an outstanding career.
- 13 combined wins across 28 races
- 6 G1 wins
(remember that Umamusume almost trivializes G1 races, but in reality even just a single G1 victory is often a career-defining achievement)
- 4 G2 wins
- 1 G3 win
- 2 of 3 triple crown wins (often stylized by fans as a "double crown")
- Dual Takarazuka Kinen wins - the first ever to do so and now tied with just one other horse, Chrono Genesis who repeated the feat in 2021
- An Arima Kinen win during his classic (3YO) year
- and a Tenno Sho Spring win

There are so many crazy stories/facts about Gold Ship:
- Nicknames: The Unsinkable Battleship, The White Devil
- Goofiness: The goofy poses/faces in the episode are modeled after real life images of Gold Ship.
- Intelligence: He is considered an extremely intelligent horse. Many believe he understands cameras as he would look straight on at them despite the direct front being a blind spot for horses.
- Enemy: Gold Ship always tried to kick Tosen Jordan.
- Friend: Gold Ship would stop and stomp his hoof to greet his friend and stablemate, Grass Wonder, even if trainers were trying to pull him away.
- 12 billion yen Incident: In the 2015 Takarazuka Kinen, he was #1 favorite and set to be the first horse to win it three times. Unfortunately for many, he threw the race by jumping around right before the race started. This late start caused him to place 15th and cost betters ~12 billion yen.
- Career: 13 wins in 28 races, many believe he would have done even better if he wasn't such a troll.
- Health: Race horses show signs of wear and tear at the end of their career; Gold Ship was perfectly healthy. Many believe he rarely, if ever, tried his best when racing. His only injury of note was when he kicked himself in the leg during one of his random rampages.
- Retirement: He was a bit depressed after retirement because he no longer got to race. This phase was short though because he became a top breeding horse soon after, which he really enjoys.
- Breeding: Mares that have trouble getting pregnant get sent to him because he has an estimated 96%-99% breeding rate. Gold Ship DID refuse to breed with Gentildonna though.

The subtitles phrased it oddly, but Gold Ship had 6 G1 wins not a 6 win streak. She mentions that if she won Japan Cup + Arima Kinen, she would set a new record with 8 G1 wins. The 7 G1 record has existed for some time at this point in the story and was set by someone at Tracen.
For comparison Special Week, Teio and McQueen had 4 G1 wins.

The Twinkle Series is based on the actual races. The Dream Trophy races are made up and an excuse not to have the Uma's leave the School after their careers should be over.

The old man they cut to was Goldship's groom, I think. If so he was about the only person on the training team that Goldship actually liked.

@29:47, these two are definitely my favorite reoccurring side characters (they're actually from another anime) since they're pretty much kitasan black and satono diamond's honorary uncs since they've been with them alot when they were younger (s2).
