The scene is written that way intentionally as a mirror from Rudy's past behavior and to showcase his growth. His old immature self would've probably gone for the undergarments (parallels from the childhood bath scene) and even the audience is tempted to think that's where Sylphie was leading. Yet, he chose the sunglasses and reconnects with an important piece of his past. He's not the most morally upstanding person to ever exist, but he's come a long way through his mistakes and perseverance.

Rudy's old memories are also almost to the end of their usefulness. He didn't have a real life past middle school. Also just a couple of points to your added context. Ariel lied when she said she was tired of watching Sylphie dither. Her sadistic nature enjoyed watching her friend squirm. What troubled Ariel was how Sylphie was looking sadder and sadder with each passing day. Ariel also found the suggestion that Rudy was afraid of her so ridiculous that it couldn't be true, she instead saw Rudy's commitment to keep Fitz secret as trying to do right by a friend. Which Ariel now found to be admirable. Ariel also wanted to be sure Sylphie was committed, so she not only asked Sylphie about the type of life she wanted to have with Rudy, she asked her to picture someone else living that life in her stead. Sylphie pictured Nanahosi in her role as Rudy's wife and herself as their next door neighbor. Sylphie absolutely didn't want that, and was fully onboard with the plan.

2025-07-17 22:51:06 +0000 UTCI feel like MT is to Isekai what Berserk is to dark fantasy. Alot of Isekai that came after took the wrong lessons. Rudy being part of a noble family, having romantic partners, or even being a powerful mage all seem meaningful and not just played up as wish-fulfillment. Like this episode feels satisfying because we know the struggle both characters went through and it feels appropriate not just some feather in the cap for the main character getting some girl who's into him simply because he's the main character.

2025-07-17 18:50:48 +0000 UTCWell well well, what do we have here, is that a romance arc after ED arc? Sounds almost like it's a story of a young man's life, how peculiar. In all honesty, it was really thrilling of hearing your "I need some action" at the start of episode 10 changing into "please give us some more slice of life romance at least for one episode we need this" at the end of episode 11. Cruel, cruel Apothecary Diaries, blueballing us all for several seasons already. It's fair that you treat this as a show, but I want to encourage you to try treating this as a memoirs of a living person. A diary, if you will. Your average person's life does not consist of battle arc, training arc, school arc, and so continues the vicious cicle. There will be a time when you want to live a happy life, will be a time when your goals and priorities will shift due to your age or something else. Please, try to treat this show similarly, because honestly, it's more than just set of tropes, I honestly believe that it could remind of someone's actual life, and this is the magic of the show. You can genuinely root for a dude getting boner, and there is little to none shows that will do the same level of engagement in everyday life. A piece of context on the Eros and Agape, if you will. Rudy has met Fitz, not Sylphie. For these years, he developed a lot of agape towards her, because let me remind you, he does not know how her face looks like, her body type is very asexual, almost androgynous, she is an embodiment of zero sexuality. The fact that Rudy formed a connection with her and started to love her, showed that his cure was in the area of Agape, of genuine connections and mental love. And by experiencing this type of love, he could experience erection and Eros with it. Here's hoping he will make things right this time. Rudeus has grown a lot as a protagonist. He became much more respectful towards women in general, as showed in the moment where he decided to turn away and do not peek at Sylphy, which old Rudeus will do without a doubt. He did not want to strip her even when there was a golden opportunity to do so, and when she had her bra, panties and glasses on and said that there is still one thing left, his mind went straight towards glasses, instead of anything else, which is a great detail about his mental state right now. Let's do some cut content that was not mentioned by my colleague here, as per usual. 1. Glasses again. They can hide your face, and with some other artifacts, Ariel indeed can hide as Sylphy and Sylphy can make herself look as Ariel to confuse potential assassins or for the sake of going out in the city. Shame they cannot change their voice, thus Silent Fitz is a great cover up. 2. Several attempts. Basically, the cave incident was not the first attempt that has been made to reveal Sylphy's identity. She asked Rudy to stay one night at his place because there was an incident in her room, and Rudy agreed thinking it was a test from Ariel to see if he will spill the information about Sylphy. She had to undress herself and wait for Rudy to accidentally come to his room, seeing her naked, but he... knocked on his own door, knowing she is there, so she had to dress up. Several times during night she stood up from her bed and approached Rudy's bed, trying to reveal herself, while Rudy thought she thinks about killing him there and then because he knows too much. Ultimately plan turned out a failure, and they decided on this idea next. 3. Scar. One of the key memories that has not been adapted, but you still can see it in the anime, is that Sylphy has a scar on her hand. It was a scar that she made while studying fire magic, and one of the common memories of Rudy and Sylphy, but she always wore gloves, untill this point. The scar is visible in the scene where Sylphy activated the spell through ring, and when Rudy took off her gloves himself, which was one of the many hints on who she is really. 4. Bullying plan. It was actually an idea from Ariel, so you guys did read it correctly, but the problem was, only people who could realistically "bully" Sylphy were Soldat and his team. Good thing they found out that he is a friend of Rudy, or it would be a bit awkward to hire them to do this job and being beaten by Rudy. And with that, content of these episode is done. My god I liked your reaction, and ooh boy I am thrilled to see next episodes after your predictions so much. I am certain you will like it, and through empathy, so do I. Have a good one!

Interesting parallels between Sylphie in the cave and Sara in the cave earlier in the season. Excited about S3. It's heat and the favorite part of the Light Novels for me. 2026 is going to have some bangers.

First things first, if you have not already recorded it I really recommend watching episodes 12 and 13 together as well, even though there was a season split. Now on to some cut content. Rudy describes King Badigadi as a special student, the Immortal demon king apparently gave the school one of his arms to study, however Badigadi doesn't go to class and just wanders around doing whatever he likes. Badigadi does sometimes interrupt what others are doing to offer instruction or advise, this is what he did one morning when he asked Rudy why he never trains with battle aura. Rudeus confused asked what battle aura is? Badigadi explained that it is simply wrapping ones mana around themselves and using it to increase strength, agility, durability and such. Rudy tried to visualize himself as going super saiyan but the mana quickly fell apart. Badigadi told Rudy he had no talent for it, just like Laplace. Rudy asked how Laplace fought then, only for Badigadi to advise him not to try to fight like Laplace did as Rudy's human body wouldn't be able to handle it. Badigadi then asked if Rudy's Emperor level stone cannon spell wasn't enough. Rudy was shocked to hear it described that way as Rudy had only recently learned the Saint level Earth Spell Sandstorm. Rudy then went to Advanced Healing class which Pursena takes without Linia. Pursena is grateful for Rudy being in that class as she is trying very hard to learn healing magic but her reputation meant no one wanted to partner with her for the practical portions of the class. Pursena was so happy she shared some of her dried meat with him. Fitz tried to join Rudy in working on the spell circles with Nanahoshi *To avoid spoilers some fans refer to her as Banana also a good way to remember her name* However Fitz complained that each circle took as much mana as an advanced spell and she feared she wouldn't be able to help as she needed her mana to guard the Princess. Nanahoshi has described Magic circles as working like printed circuit boards so good catch guys. Fitz asked Rudy to walk her back to the girls dorm but he politely declined as he didn't want to get in trouble again. Fitz said that wouldn't happen as many of the girls now like Rudy, and revealed that Linia and Pursena have been going to all the girls hyping Rudy up. "He doesn't bully the weak." "He's a nice guy, mew." He has gained the reputation of someone who beats up the bad guys, but won't hurt normal students. Who is a gentleman to women as he is strong enough to beat a Demon King but didn't react at all when a group of girls surrounded and threatened him. He dresses shabby, but has a handsome face. Rudy asked if he was now the prince of the tennis club, which confused Fitz, but Rudy played it off and bid Fitz a good night. George was also totally right on the figure of Fitz and Rudy's reaction. Looking forward to the reactions to the next half of the season.
