Nah Subaru loves Rem too. And there's some stuff with Satella.

First of all, thank you so much for taking your time "digesting" each episode and talking things over, I've watched almost every channel reaction for this show, since it's my favorite show, and yours are definitely the most enjoyable ones to watch because of that.
To Graham's point of not liking S2, I've genuinely would never have thought it would be that reason.
I'm caught up to the anime, I researched the cut content, and NEVER for a single moment the thought of the show "being a harem" or "turning into a harem" even crossed my mind, granted I haven't read the novel so it might be, I guess (would be really disappointed, and I think its HIGHLY unlikable).
Nonetheless, trying to put myself in your place of someone who back then didn't try to pay attention to the show, I think I can get where you are coming from, but really surprised me.
I know I'm a little late, but I hope the show will change your opinion for the better, if it hasn't yet!

Yeah I completely understand Graham's issue with the show. I don't want to give anything away so I'll only talk about up to this point, but,
I always gave Re:zero credit for not being a tipical harem in that he's only interested in one girl.
In fact I've always loved how single minded he's been. Like sure he flirts sometimes, and other girls like him, but even when he was at his lowest, about to give up. As soon a Rem brought him back, it wasn't to her. He was brought back to his center, his core, and he rememberd the reason he was doing all this in the first place, because of his imense love for Emilia.
Dispite all the flaws the story or the writer may have (that is to say it definitely feels like he's flirting with the harem trope) this story has alway's felt like, to me, centered around that single minded love.
In fact, that single minded "Apple of my eye" sybolism is shown very often in this show.
Mother's basement has some realy great videos about Re:zero and it's themes.

I will also say I don’t believe the waifu factor really exists in rezero purely based on the fact the romance is always written for a purpose. So if you feel like she actually likes subaru….there is probably a reason and something we dont know yet

Subaru is the definition of how people look so much at the negatives they dont see the positives in the worth of living. The writing around subarus character is so powerful and purposeful….its actually masterful. Well have negatives in life (not to this extreme obviously) we tend to overlook the good things in life and thats what keeps Subaru going

I try to be fair but straight shooting. I want to speak my mind, and I do, but it has certainly gotten me in trouble with some of our other series haha

I like how Graham isn't afraid to just speak his mind, its such a breath of fresh air from other reaction channels that keep critisism to themselves to get on the good sides of the fans

I totally relate to Graham's disdain for harem tropes, I absolutely despised some other shows like Love Hina for the exact same reason (and I was also never a fan of Rem's fawning). Not to make it worse, but Petra definitely has a crush on him too 👀
Here's a fun thing to consider: Echidna wearing the schoolgirl outfit based on his memories wasn't just waifu bait, it explicitly establishes that she would've been able to see his experiences which would probably include returning by death. It was sitting in plain sight ever since the 1st trial
