I went set shopping, and found some that work and some that don't. Also tried getting some complex sets and props retextured.
This is a "new" set, and as beautiful as it is you can't not see how pixelated it looks, and this is after half an hour of rendering without background people and it's only at 1% done. Not sure spending a day on one picture is worth it.
That's why I loaded the old downtown set at the top to see if it still works. The old set is a DAZ model but it is old enough and not re-textured to work with the new renderer. Did my own re-texturing and it looks great.
Here's a nice mix of new and old: Got a new "gas station" set that is beautifully lit, though it looks like a corporation bought out the old "Speed-line Market" franchise. It's the name of the person that built the model's name, and I'm all in favor of artists signing their own work, but I might see what I can do about changing out the signage to the "Speed-line Market".
You can also see Ariane's SUV here. I thought about changing it to something normal, but it's too iconic. The old model was going to be a problem in Daz, I knew this from using it in Ariane in Paradise as the Aviary vehicle.
I looked around for an updated model, but the 1980's Jeep are no where to be found on any Daz related marketplaces. Found one on a 3DMax store and converted it to Daz via retexturing, turned out pretty nice.
Obviously, I didn't "spotlight" Ariane. Mostly to show off the set better.
Speaking of old stuff. Got to bring back the Drive-N-Dine. But like other old sets, it's badly lit, and the uniform needs to be remade from Genesis 8 wardrobe pieces. I actually have a better "diner" set I could use, but this small one makes me feel nostalgic.
Now a new set for a new scene? I have already established that there is a dead mall near Ariane. Well i found a "dead mall" set, and thought about a new scene of urban archaeology I might add to the game. The problem is lighting, especially since the mall won't have electricity, and the game is set at night, I'm sure I'll figure something out.
What's Keeping me Busy
This week I posted the first Alpha version of Date Ariane 2 with new music and new rules on Sunday available for Dater level and above. Then I finished the Steam version of Hopepunk City and submitted it for approval, anticipating the need for changes when they look at it.
Then I wanted to write the next update for Dating in a World on Fire and get it illustrated for February. But the craziness happening in America is affecting my desire to write, so I'm rendering a bunch of DA2 images and updating that instead. I'm thinking of ways to change the look and feel of the game, like more pans and zooms different camera angles etc.
Kind of excited what's next in both games actually, but I feel like rendering stuff.
