Been working on lots of game stuff, and also some RL holiday stuff. The game stuff is working on updates for two other games, and none of it involved pictures. Bottom Line I don't have a lot to share this week. Here's some news of what I've been working on.
New Patreon Exclusive Collection
If you click on the collection tab at the top of my Patreon main page, I added a new collection called "Patreon Exclusives" which are picture posts that contain pictures that are not part of any games. These are test pics, holiday pics, and me experimenting with stuff. These are all available to paid Patreons at all levels, and beats going through neary 200 posts looking for stuff you've never seen before.
Date Ariane 2.0 tinkering
Besides updating the pictures, I want to update the game play. First, I just finished rewriting many lines in the game to make the language in the game a little less awkward. Date Ariane is a game that was originally made for HTML, and the language is still a little stilted in many places. Trying to fix that.
The second change is to make it more of a game. Currently, you demonstrate some traits and based on those traits, Ariane will allow certain actions and deny others, but it's fairly easy to demonstrate all the traits, and open up the full game.
What I decided to do is to make it so you earn points at the beginning, and then spend points as you play. If you run out of points, Ariane doesn't want to do anything else, except maybe play a board game. I coded the changes, but it is far from balanced, so that's a new ongoing tinkering project.
Hopepunk City Steam Project
I wanted to start doing all the art that needs to be done for Hopepunk City to get on Steam, and I got distracted. The music in the game is licensed by a company that had weird rules, and I wanted to make sure I still had a valid license. That's when I found out my login doesn't work anymore. I could start a new account and re-license the music, OR I could use my current game music license with epidemic sound and just replace the music.
WOW Sound was most of the background music from different scenes including the title theme. The scene intro music clips were licensed by Music 2 Hues Inc. and they closed up shop and no longer exist. Been using them since I started making Renpy games with music, but at least I have a perennial license with those fun intro clips.
Here are links to the old theme song for Hopepunk City and the new theme song for Hopepunk City. Much better, and there are 9 similar tracks. I'll probably update Hopepunk City with the new music soon.
Finding replacement tracks was fun and fairly easy, except oddly the background music during Strip Crazy Eights. Probably going to do the same with Date Ariane 2.0, too.
Next DiaWoF Update
Working on having a new section of the game to play this month. One scene left to write and illustrate. The above picture is all I have for that scene for now.
There are two more scenes before this one which I already finished, but because they contain heavy spoilers, I don't want to share them yet. To the left of Relay in the background are Gemma (introduced 2 weeks ago) and Alex (introduced a year ago, but never used in the game yet) on the fork lift. In the background to the right is a worker robot.
Hope I have more to share next week.
