Suddenly I have too many photos to share. Decided to pick my favorites from each scene that I haven't shared yet.
This is from the opening hotel pool scene. Genesis 8.1 characters can be much more expressive than the old 4.2, so I decided to show off a big laugh.
Moving to the town, Ariane shows off her Gymnastic skills in a top not meant to be worn this way.
At the swimwear and souvenir shop, Ariane takes the loose shirt off to try something else.
Going on a hike. The old jungle hike set works fine in Daz, so I don't have to get another one. I redid the walking scene with improved Renpy graphic features that didn't exist before.
The lake prop didn't work so well in Daz. The pine trees lost all their branches and leaves like they were victims of a forest fire at some point. I rearranged the trees in the back to hide the damage, but not everything is perfect in this conversion.
So I burned them down and grew some new ones. With Poser I had to re-render a lot, Daz is the same apparently.
A new lesson I learned in Daz this week is that while all the pictures look great when they are rendered, looking at them as a group reveals that Daz has a tendency to not render color reliably.
You can see this in the above pictures: First has a really bright sky, and second shows a darker sky, and the image is darker too. Third is indoors and lighting is artificial, but this game mostly uses daytime as a light source. Fourth looks a little yellow for some reason.
When I made the game originally I used bright artificial lights to represent the sun and a second light coming at a 90 degree angle to light the shadows so they don't look super black. Now I'm using HDRI lighting, and while it looks better, it varies a lot.
These pictures came from my original draft of Day 1, but I am pushing all the pictures scene by scene (for consistency) through a photo editor to color correct each image. Just another step in the process, but all the pictures look better than the originals for sure anyways.
Looking like I'll be ready with a draft release tonight, and will be announcing the project on my website and social media tomorrow. That means I have to finish it!
Next week I'll share some Pirates Cove and Yacht Tour pictures.
