I still have no idea what this would be used for.

That ending was perfect... lol

I remember my mom taking us to the drive-in movies to see Music Man; these are very fond memories 😊

Bradley Goodwin

Exactly!

Hand Tool Rescue

Shipoopi (The girl that's hard to get) Sung by actor/ comedian Buddy Hacket. https://youtu.be/9Jj622vbrrU Well, a woman who'll kiss on the very first date Is usually a hussy And a woman who'll kiss on the second time out Is anything but fussy But a woman who'll wait till the third time around Head in the clouds, feet on the ground She's the girl you're glad you found She's your shipoopi From one of my favorite Broadway/Movie musicals, Music Man 1962. The movie also starting Robert Preston (reprising the main character Harold Hill from the original Broadway cast), Shirley Jones and then child actor Ron Howard.

Wonderful!

Family guy. It was a thing on Family Guy. But they were referencing a song from the 50's. Shipoopi. https://youtu.be/u5o8J7r72WU

I'd have to change the gears in my old lathe.

Hand Tool Rescue

just a bit curious but could you not have single point threaded the outside of that rod? or is there something i missed in your escapades?

AC-1 Sentinel (I'm cramped inside)

Shapoopy (16:36)… is that another Canadian word like chuch?

Michael Ford

Could work!

Maximum stress

Hand Tool Rescue

I thought so too at first, but after reading the patent, that's not the case apparently.

Hand Tool Rescue

Now that's a good idea!

Hand Tool Rescue

Hmmmm...very hmmmmm.

Hand Tool Rescue

Hahaha

Hand Tool Rescue

Right?!

Hand Tool Rescue

Gets me thinking it'd be a good honeypot for man-splainers (and a candid camera).

ChuckD

removing stubborn tips from a confectioner bag?

Ryan Simpson

Well.... apart from the belt sander, large vice, and the mill and all its accessories, im almost there! I think I have the exact same set of hardness files, I have a Very similar looking lathe (still in pieces....) and I have torches a plenty. I feel ya on the eyeball heat treating, I just did a very similar thing my self recently. With 1095. The first one I made I broke by squeezing it with my fingers after quenching and that told me I actually got it to harden.... I was mystified that it didnt shatter like a grenade on quenching and then I shattered it by accident looking for a file to test if I hardened it or not... The second one actually made it to the part, and was so springy that it actually didnt work so I had to make 3, 4 and 5 because thats how life goes...

I'd imagined the serrated bit would be individual plates stacked up. It would surely allow for relative rotation but that might not be a bad thing

Raul Ramos

This would be great in a candid camera show set in a hardware store - very few people would guess what it is, and how to use it! Except, of course, all the conical fastener nuts 🔩!

Marc McKenzie

I wonder if it is meant fro reducers on screw pipe

Brilliantly nutty and so is the wrench thingy 🤣🤣🤣

Lucita Dawson (AKA 29LookinGood AKA Proud Nana)

Delightful!

Janet Dupree

What an utterly bonkers and mystifying tool!

Rik Kershaw-Moore

I would love to have one of these

Bryan Sportel

"reduce the cost"? LOL. Really? Interesting.

Brian Myers

I paused the video and read the text: The ojbect of my invention is to improve the construction of an alligator wrench whereby the life of the wrench is materially increased. A further object of my invention is to construct an alligator wrench so that the same may be used on either straight or tapered work. Another object of my invention is to construct an alligator wrench so that the same will adjust itself automatically to different tapers. A final obect of my invention is to amplify the construction and reduce the cost of alligator wrenches ?? ??? the above features.

Brian Myers

Haha. That's how Billy Idol got those spikes on his gloves!

Brian Myers

Interesting design! It could maybe be used for those Ben-Hur style lug nut caps, or maybe for a punk rock jacket (lol). Either way, I hope we get to see more custom spikey fasteners in the future now that you have a tool to easily tighten them!

Cool
