I violently underestimated how many more japanning projects I took on.

Wait... you ran out of asphaltum? You said you had a lifetime supply in your japanning video: https://youtu.be/SBqgpdBNrt8?t=363

Eric Olson

Masterfully done and as excellently entertaining as usual, my only complaint is now I have to wait for the next video.

Thank you!

The difference between your care for the next guy, vs what other people do for the next guy, is astronomical.

A testament to the design of this tool is the fact that modern door mortising machines look pretty much exactly like this. You could strap a trim router to that swinging arm and it would work the same.

Haha, of course I do!

Museum would be awesome!

I appreciate that! I hope to donate more items to the local museum here when I can.

Thank you!

You used the new hair styling gel for glue :)

Wait a minute. You don't know what Robertson Screws are? I though all Canadians were fiercely proud of all things Made-In-Canada. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_screw_drives#Robertson

That new wooden handle just looks fantastic. Ij general a very rare and specific tool. As Marc McKenzie already mentioned, I also think this would fit great into a museum of wood or old hand tool and caprentry work. As a funny coincidence, I am waiting for my befriended carpenter to deliver a wooden plate for a rare bread slicer I have already finished, except that plate. Maybe I should give him a call to get things done soon 😂 greetz from good ol' Germany.

Clearly a tool for commercial finish carpenters “in the day”, one of the benefits of this cool tool would be consistency of results. Eric, if you weren’t doing this work, future generations wouldn’t have a chance to understand how the world was built. It would be cool to see this end up in a living museum where it could be demonstrated!

Marc McKenzie

Nice! The new wood handle was lovingly and beautifullly made, compensating for my sadness at the loss of the original. Better ferrule, too.

My screwdriver arrives today and a new video. I need to buy a lottery ticket!
