Antique Drag Saw [Restoration] - Part 2

Does it live to kill people another day?

Antique Drag Saw [Restoration] - Part 2

Comments

When you started sawing I was laughing while simultaneously yelling at my TV begging you to stop before you sawed yourself in half. Thanks for listening to me.

Don H.

You really sounded "up" in this video. Like you have a little bounce in your step. Super cool video, thanks for sharing! ATB, Bill

Hmmmmm...

Hand Tool Rescue

Excellent video. The most terrifying contraption I ever saw was a rotating log splitter probably from early 1900s at the neighbor farmer's place in the north of Sweden. This thing wouldn't give you a bruise, it would rip your @#$%& arm off... It was a 4-5ft flywheel with axe heads welded on to it...

Is it possible to mount the antique flame thrower along side the saw. For wood drying purposes only.

That’s scary...😱

Don't wear a tie while operating this machine!

Louis Ross

Maximum danger!

Hand Tool Rescue

High level of worry cringe when you were fiddling with the speed. Fun watch as always.

Big time. It needs to be metal.

Hand Tool Rescue

1:58 - dawg...you gotta shore up that bench. great job

R l

Hahaha, I actually started out as a woodworker.

Hand Tool Rescue

More danger = more fun....until I die.

Hand Tool Rescue

Hahaha, it's tough to turn!

Hand Tool Rescue

but fun!

Hand Tool Rescue

It's the worst to cut.

Hand Tool Rescue

I would have loved to do 10-parts but then it's just a drag saw channel, haha

Hand Tool Rescue

Probably killed at least one guy a day.

Hand Tool Rescue

Don't even look at it.

Hand Tool Rescue

I really need to up my log game next time I use it for sure.

Hand Tool Rescue

And we appreciate you too HTR... as a mechanic. Not a woodworker.

ChuckD

Very nice machine of death. This video moves into the top 5 of my favs , I hope you have or keep finding and rescuing these implements of death and beauty

Christopher Woolley

OSHA approved!

Eric Olson

When he flipped the flywheel I got shivers, and wondered if we were going to call him lefty!

Love it! What an insane machine!

Stephen Boots

13:25 DEATH MACHINE!!! Holy crap! Can you imagine something like that made today!?

Brian Myers

Well this thing certainly explains the lower expected lifespan back in the day.

Bukka

Man, when you were cutting that thick elm I could almost hear your tools crying for their own rescue.

Brian Myers

Would have watched this in a 10 part video! Well done, that slow motion shot was amazing. My Grandfather was a proper old school, six fingered lumberjack, I can picture him cursing this machine in french, and loving it. Fantastic restoration.

Goose Gosselin

Brilliant!

Janet Dupree

I'm still excited! Plus, I'm not going to tone down how very loud this thing is.

Hand Tool Rescue

This thing is totally ridiculous. All those moving Parts, some of them near the speed control... But great to see it runs and works as it was designed. I wonder, how many men got injured using these machines back in the days. Great work and great choice not to color this whole thing, imho.

Marco

Man that was fucking crazy. I love how you just yell louder into your mic instead of turning the levels down when that engine kicked over lol.

Marshall Horton

Safety..Safety??? You don't need no freaking Safety. Don't stick your fingers in there if ya don't want to loose them isn't that all the safety you need?

Master of None

Where my facepalm at?

Peter Laws

Nice work! I met a US army general in Alabama recently, and he had a brass accent.

Old Crow Bourbon

I took it to mean that he was going to release these two to the unwashed masses but that going forward, the plebes would only get the silent ones as it was before. HTR can speak for himself, of course. :-) I usually end up watching both versions. And I usually watch the silent ones first. :-)

Peter Laws

Insane right there in the membrane! Wow. Nice work. Would love to see a video of it cutting through a suitable, non-moving log Here with my unnecessarily prominent adjustable wrench that Canada Post managed to get to the USA in reasonable time (Saskatoon -> Vancouver -> SFO -> OKC ...) looking for things that need tightening.

Peter Laws

Thats awful news about this being the last narrated video. These narrated videos are kind of the only perk on Patreon.
