Great job! That's definitely an ingenious use of that Whitney roller chain connecting link.

The type of grease used is too specific to each tool to generalize, but any grease is better than no grease.

Wait a minute. Did I miss something? Why is it marked "Property Of ACME STAPLE COMPANY". Was it something like the bell system phones where you had to rent them?

There is a hidden story inside this stapler about the history of metallurgy in tools. Notice the staples are copper - copiously available, softer and lighter than steel, and good material for the uses of light staples. 60 years later, crime rings gut innocent people's homes for the copper pipe in their walls, it is so valuable. Aluminum has been on the opposite trajectory and was finally becoming inexpensive enough to produce in mass castings at about this time. Our throw-away society, partially made possible by obsessive cost engineering, has difficulty understanding that in 1957 particularly in western countries, a person expected to buy a tool and have it last a very long time if not forever. So bronze bushings and the ruggedness of this interesting piece are not surprising at all!

Another excellent video, and I appreciate you discussing the type of oil you use and why. Other than Nutella, can you advise what type of grease you use in older tools and why?

Bro, you ever encounter a casting you want welded but do not feel like trying you self, send it my way.
I'll do it for the entertainment value of watching you put it back together.
The only issue is that I live in NY...
Keep up the awesome work, cant wait to see your upcoming colab vids!
