I love that Frankie shouted out New Rockstars. My husband and I started watching their X-Men ‘97 breakdowns this summer and have been riding with them ever since. I’m glad to see them finally getting their flowers.

Frankie after saying the dumbest shit - “I’m not fucking around here”
Facts: The bus is going 70mph everything inside the bus is going 70mph. The system is closed. If you throw the ball up in the air it will still be going 70mph in the same direction.
If you throw the ball gently towards the back of the bus. The ball will still be going at say 50mph forward. But relative to Joey in the back going 70mph forward. The ball is relatively coming towards him at 20mph.
Same in a car, closed system so no air resistance effecting the balls forward velocity. Throw it up it will maintain its speed.
Now imagine you are in a convertible and have the roof down. You throw the ball up above where the roof would be it’s still going forward but air resistance will slow down the ball. So relative to the fast car the ball will go backwards. But relative to outside the ball is still going forward.
They aren’t going to read this but still

If you’re on a pickup truck going north at 70 miles per hour and you throw a baseball south at 70 miles per hour relative to you, the baseball would appear to stop moving relative to an outside observer on the ground. This happens because the forward motion of the truck cancels out the backward throw of the baseball, making it basically fall straight down.

DSo everybody corrected the inertia and relativity question with the baseball. But with schrödinger's cat. The idea is basically you have a cat in a box and something that kills it if the device detects radiation. And the idea is do to the way atoms function there’s no way to determine wether or not that atom will decay. So the cat will exist in a state of being both dead and not dead. And you will never be able to know the outcome until you open the box. thus collapsing the wave function on whatever particular event happened. Also key note so will think it requires an observer aka a human brain to witness it (called the observer affect. But really it’s any instrument that measures the particle

In the hypothetical that Frankie is in a party bus moving 70 mph and Frankie drops a ball everyone inside the bus experiences the ball moving 0 mph straight down. However an observer outside the bus with a radar gun that’s somehow locked onto the ball would experience the ball moving at 70 mph. If frank throws the ball at joe at 30 mph joe would experience the ball traveling 30 mph. An observer outside the bus would experience the ball traveling 100 mph

Finally, if Frank WERE to throw the ball at 70mph from a car moving at 70mph. The ball would go at 140mph for a SPLIT SECOND before the air resistance and gravity catch up with the ball.
Frank is right in this debate.

Now, if throwing the ball upwards outside of the moving car. The exact same thing happens BUT the resistance of the air outside pushes it backwards (side note: the resistance ALSO pushes the car back, which is why the car needs power to keep pushing against the air. This is how a car naturally stops when you lift your foot off the pedal). When outside of the car, the car is no longer "still" compared to the ball since it is thrown outside of it.
Etian

The ball IS travelling at 70mph in the car. The reason why it falls back down when you throw it in the car (and not backwards) is because there is no air resistance within the car. The referential of the car moves at the same speed as the ball, rendering it "still" compared to the ball. So the ball acts just like it would if someone would stand still and throw it up in the air.
