JUJUTSU KAISEN IS ENDING IN 5 CHAPTERS - Why Does This Feel So Familiar? A Bleach Fan's Perspective
Added 2024-08-19 18:00:23 +0000 UTCSo it was announced earlier today that Jujutsu Kaisen is ending in 5 chapters. While I want to discuss that, I want to offer a unique perspective as well, and talk about the story from a different angle.
As a long-time Bleach fan, this all feels very familiar - so I wanted to discuss how the surprise announcement of Bleach's sudden ending affected me, and the parallels I'm seeing here too.

From the outside it wasn't a series I normally would fall into but each episode I get hooked a little more. Bleach will always be my number 1 but I'm excited none the less to broaden the passion. I got hooked on bleach while I was in the Marine Corps stationed in Japan. No better place to begin the journey. It was long after the manga conclusion but the anime revival wasn't even a topic of discussion yet either. With that said I understood why bleach ended the way it did when I became a fan, I'd hoped it would be a cautionary tale to other manga artists. It seems we either get the abrupt (no matter how the creator plans to end a series it always feels rushed in the end) or we get One Piece. I'd rather have an abrupt ending than 1000+ episodes. I can appreciate One Piece's fan base but watching/reading week to week must be on a different level compared to the rest of us 🤣. I'll end my ramble here, but I'd love more JJK content, I found myself just last week wondering if you'd continue or not. If votes count I vote for more! Keep up the good work Mr. Tommo 🫡

While I was lucky enough to get into Bleach and fall in love with its world within the recent years of content such as the Thousand Year Blood War anime, I can still recognize the parallels between Bleach’s ending and the current state of Jujutsu Kaisen in 5 chapters as well. Overall, I’m definitely glad that Gege Akutami is getting to end the series on a note he deems satisfying rather than health problems or other complications messing with the ending or even worse, the series never being finished at all. Even as JJK ends, like you said, having a strong and dedicated fanbase with the upcoming anime will keep JJK in discussion for years to come. And on the topic of of endings, hiatuses and other things such as that, apparently Hunter x Hunter is returning! Any thoughts on that? Great video as always!
