Today, a brief, disorganised ramble on the details behind how the Sternritter could steal Bankai - we know HOW they did it, sort of, but how does it actually work? Plus, what happened to the lost Bankai of Yamamoto and Chojiro?

2024-03-11 23:46:55 +0000 UTCThough realizing the power of the Medallions is inherently a Quincy/Yhwach ability, imagine if the concept of the medalians pulling the "power"/Bankai (more specifically the zanpakuto spirit but Bankai is easier to type 😅) from a Shinigami could be repurposed by Mayuri (or more likely Kisuke) to remove the Bankai just before death. This could be expanded (every action has a reaction/Yin and Yang) to potentially reinserting the Bankai into another Soul/User. From a military mindset this would be invaluable, though hoping Kyoraku still believes using "evil" to destroy "evil" isn't itself "evil". It could be considered taboo by the old Soul Society but modern times might change their mindset given how the war went. I could see the Noble Families more open to the idea of this concept to insure powerful Bankai like Senbonzakure stay in the Noble bloodline cementing their power and prestige. Going back to Mayuri and Kisuke, I think there is a bit of precedent allowing them to achieve this task. Both have used Hollow concepts to their advantage in the past, more so Kisuke but none the less I don't think it's out of their combined genius to adapt Quincy abilities. Finally the ability and use of the Medallions should be a wake up call to the Soul Society to reassess the limits they put on themselves. The Medallions show how transitioning from the old ways (the Ishida family or the old Seireitei) to the new diversified and amplified the potential of the Quincy power set. This itself is reason enough to explore other military options to bolster their defense. *Don't even get me started down the rabbit hole of including Aizen in this thought process 😞😅
