Who was your FAVOURITE CAPTAIN in the Soul Society Arc?

Hello everyone! I hope you're all having a great weekend so far.

For this week's poll, we're diving back into the earliest days of Bleach for some nostalgia - who is your favourite Captain from the original line-up of the Soul Society arc?

Honestly, that is such a powerhouse of a panel, instantly demonstrating Kubo's incredible talent for character design, I love it!

Once again, we're going multiple choice, so pick your favourites!

Kenpachi for me pretty ridiculous. A guy with a shitty sword who doesn’t know the proper techniques of sword fighting but still needs an eyepatch that is constantly draining his power but at the same time holding himself back deep down so that he can be in battle longer is why he’s #1 for me. I think Mayuri is my overall favorite captain though across all arcs. What a crazy guy

For me, it has to be Byakuya. I loved how the arc established him as one of the pinnacles of strength and stability within the Gotei that we would see pan out over the run of the series. Besides the loss to As Nodt, which we can argue might not have happened without the Bankai theft, Byakuya never outright loses another battle. And his character development, even within the soul society arc alone was always really powerful to me. I actually get a similar feeling to Ichigo or Kenpachi when Byakuya shows up in a scene, a type of comfort because you know he's about to bring it. lol. And I'm firmly of the persuasion (as Tommo has argued) that Byakuya likely becomes Head Captain after Shinsui, far into the future. And as a bonus, his design is badass

This is a tough one. The action stars that raised me, made me fall in love with Kenpachi Zaraki. Big, powerful, I'm the strongest kinda guy. He is who I wanted to be as a child. Shunshi Kyoraku was more relaxed, flamboyant, and caring. Daddy issues aside, he was the kind of person I wanted to be when Bleach was coming out. He demonstrated you could be strong, but also not be a bully. Sajin Komamura I felt had the more interesting story, or potential for story. He felt like he was an outcast and I probably resonated with him the most. Also, he was the goodest boy.

Shunsui definitely left the me the most interested throughout the arc, his laidback attitude and striking pink attire left an immediate impression on me.

Mayuri is my second favorite character but in the ss arc itself I would say Kenpaci is my favorite of the arc or Baykuya
