Which Episode of TYBW Has Been the BEST so Far?

In my opinion, these 6 episodes of TYBW are probably the current standouts (I'm hopeful for the last 3 of the cour as well!) - but I want to know what your favourite episode is so far!
Is it one of these? If not, let me know in the comments! If it is, I'd love to know why! What do you like about the episode?

I do believe that Eps 24 and/or 25 could end up being my ultimate favourite but it depends on Kubo extending Zero Division's fight

2023-09-23 01:19:04 +0000 UTCThe Fire for me pretty much no contest, I thought the animation was incredible, and more generally the art direction was simply out of this world. Plus Yama is just the most badass character in the series.

2023-09-22 20:19:01 +0000 UTCBorn in the Dark because it sets the tone perfectly. We see and feel everything through Ichigo - pain, anger, despair. The state of the Soul Society as a whole. It hurts and it burns. Through someone whose natural instinct, his life's purpose and ambition is to save everyone, we feel his utter and complete helplessness as people keep dying and he can't escape Quilge's prison. It culminates with the near death, the final words of Kuchiki Byakuya, who he's grown to respect immensely, given their history. The tears and the desperate plea of someone who is probably the proudest man around are enough to fill him with blinding rage. Ichigo becomes a berserker even without his hollow powers. Kurosaki Ichigo is everybody's hero and savior, and yet he gets humbled by Yhwach and Hashwaldt so easily. When he falls from the sky, it's like Icarus who flew too high to the sun. His face in both instances becomes one of a dumbfounded kid, when these two men incapacitate him. We get reminded he's just a human boy of 17. He cannot save anyone and anything and the world we know and love, just as hs does, is being systematically destroyed. The music, the pacing, the tone, it's all so dark and perfect. It flawlessly depicts the devastating situation the Soul Society is in and the level of theat, where Byakuya is actively dying, where not even Ichigo can do anything. And while most episodes are fantastic, nothing brings forth the emotions, goosebumps, tears, as much as Born in the Dark does. At least to me.

2023-09-22 19:38:27 +0000 UTCI would have to say either The White Haze, or I Am The Edge. I love As Nodt, he's pretty much my favorite Sternritter. And seeing The Fear of God animated was quite the treat. Though I can't easily shrug off the battle between the strongest Shinigami Kenpatchi Zaraki and strongest Sternritter Gremmy Thoumeaux. So many wonderful elements and visuals in both episode that I simply cannot chose between either.

2023-09-22 18:35:23 +0000 UTCBorn in the Dark was absolutely perfect! Capturing the tone of the first invasion’s end along with an extended fight for Ichigo and Yhwach made for my favorite episode so far.
