Bug report: at the very beginning of chapter 3, when the song is performed, it looks like the variables "singaboutcheating" and "singaboutfight" are not set, which means the short scene with Blake does not appear, and perhaps does not set the subsequent variable "nyc_blakereaction_positive" which affects the song given by UW to the Band at the end of chapter 4!

Massive plot twist! Blake can write song lyrics? I'm so glad I did two playthroughs to see both solo conversations with Blake and Seven. I really like those two characters. Awesome chapter I really enjoyed it! I'm so excited to replay it for all the alternative choice paths

okay so i’m replaying the whole demo after originally doing a few variations of chap 4 using the skip feature but omg the confessionals???? are so fun???? i really love them for the characterisation and immersion and ahhh everytime in the earlier chapters i see one pop up i’m like ‘!!!’

This isn’t really a discussion comment but this was hilarious to read so I’m adding my two cents. I think the “geographic” make-up should be “holographic” instead? I agree I expected a four line song for our first week song. but oh well. In “Viktor and co” the “co” means something like “the rest/the others” so I think it makes sense From what I remember we do get to write four lines in chapter4. Thought it’s prompted weirdly as something like “first line” “second line” “final third line” and then “another line”. Pretty confusing. Also glad to know I am not the only one guilty of just putting what should be two lines as one… The “I’ve lost track of my scandals” comment made me audibly laugh. I thought you should know that.

I really like how you can write parties and it doesn't sound like some alien who has never had a conversation with a person before. Oh yeah I forgot about that moment where Rowan interrupts the MC when they're about to say *they* didn't vote out Seven 👀. Although tbf it could just be that he didn't want to get drawn into discussing it in detail, since the band seem to not want to discuss it at all. It's interesting that Seven never (apparently?) specified that either to SV...I know it doesn't make much difference for Seven, but I wonder if the rest of SV would think differently of MC if they knew that? Because yeah it is awfully cold to vote to demote your bff or partner, but it's a bit more murky if you voted against but just didn't leave the band over it.

Hi! I was reading from the start while code-diving and I noticed that some scenes in Chapter 3 are being skipped—specifically the ones triggered by the music theme the MC picks for NYC. For example, during the show, Blake is supposed to react differently depending on the theme (goodwill, tongue-in-cheek, etc.), but those variations are skipped. Same with the elevator scene with O after winning the first challenge—they’re supposed to ask about our song choice, but that part is skipped too. It looks like the if performance = "(theme)" condition isn’t working. I might be wrong though—I'm not a pro at this lol. If it helps: I chose to shutdown the rumors allegations. So maybe theres just a prompt missing for that one specific theme? I just realized I forgot to check if that was the error Apart from that, I also saw that Seven's confessional saying that he found the situation with MC uncomfortable never seems to go away like the other confessionals that seems to stay only for a few scene. And the NYC song never get added in our discography (But maybe thats on purpose since it's not "our song" but BOTB's song?) Anyways, I love your IF, it's definitely my favorite WIP and I hope my comment doesn't sound condensing, I just thought that maybe you missed those since they are error in chap3 and I think you finished bug fixing this one!!

Kind, forgiving, playful MC who just straight up HATES Viktor is my favorite characterization. The smile melting off MC’s face as soon as he started insulting G in front of the band and BOTB crew and being replaced with mental kill bill sirens by the time we get to him yelling at Cory.

Playing through again, and would love a more aggressive reaction to Viktor yelling at Cory, because yeah, while Cory might be a shark (I don't personally have that much against her), my mc's utter disdain towards Viktor (at this point in the story) is incomparable to anything else 😂 if all else fails my mc's one goal is to make Viktor's life hell for as long as I can (this might change if Viktor shows any redeeming qualities but for right now he's number one on mc's shit list) (also O stepping in to threaten Viktor was extremely attractive and fully won me over🥰)

Tbh 81% seems too high at this point when it's only week 2 (and we haven't even done the week 2 performance yet), especially for some of the characters (like Seven). It might make more sense for O, who already had an existing (and non-antagonistic) relationship with MC before the start of the game.

I had a bug, where during the rehearsal there were a couple of mentions of Blake, even though Sever wrote the song, f.e. "Seven was kind enough to write it in the same style as your band. You're not allowed to change the arrangement of the track so when you heard the instrumentals in the demo it was a relief. The point of the song still settles in your blood, taunting you with every line that you utter. You have no idea what Blake is trying to say. Is there a message you're supposed to pick up?"

I'm playing my MC as completely oblivious though, so whatever is going on will hit harder for them later. Also it's interesting to see jealousy start popping up more. Seven makes that dig about G. And I also got a comment from O about August, although my MC isn't actually romancing August? So idk if it was a bug or just O being """observant""" as they put it lol. And some jealousy from MC's side too: Seven & Avina, Orion & Cory, G & Victoria. Delusional!MC happy to hear their mother say "come home, MC" at the end of a voicemail where she's being completely dismissive of their career and passion 😭 Some of my favourite choices this chapter: * 'You cross your fingers. It very much sounds like a MC whose stuck in the past, looking at memories through rose tinted glasses, clinging onto relationships that may not be the best for them, or that even hurts them, but they can't recognise it. Interesting if this is the case, it's like Seven is trying to open MC's eyes. Or am I reading into it too much? It's just...it doesn't make sense for Seven to write a love song from their own POV for the MC to sing right?? So it has to be about the MC, something about their mindset or thoughts. It also seemed like he KNEW it was going to happen and MC was the only one that was completely blindsided. Someone on Reddit said that they think there was more of a turbulent relationship between Seven and the band and I’m definitely buying into that theory! I sent in some bugs & typos (with screenshots) on Tumblr. I know you get a lot of asks so I hope they didn't get buried lol. My thoughts are all over the place & too long for 1 comment, so I'm splitting them up, first up thoughts on THE BAND (spoilers!!): Damn August had no clue the amount of drama and red flags they were walking into with this band haha. It's odd though because sometimes the band are so supportive. They weren't mad AT ALL about the MC & ValenReign situation that further fuel the cheating rumours. And they single out MC's talent a lot over everyone else: Rowan saying in Devyn's garage about how people in the neighbourhood would stop to listen to MC sing, or how they all praised MC's week 1 performance, or in this chap how Rowan brings up MC's songwriting on camera. But then they're so avoidant when it comes to the Seven situation, and even dismissive over MC's distress over it. And they're so annoyed if MC picks UW, even if they have good justifications & it honestly seems like the smarter choice based on both Seven's & Blake's respective characters. I find it interesting that they misjudge Seven's character so much when they were close friends for a decade... And thinking about the The Vote flashback snippet, I was confused about Seven's line because they seemed unbothered...? But I wonder if it was a case of the band were confident MC wouldn't rock the boat (even if MC votes to keep Seven as co-lead, they won't break up the band) vs Seven being confident that MC would side with them and threaten to leave the band (meaning the band would have to keep them both as co-leads)? If there is something more going on with the band that they're keeping from the MC...rip to my MC who's a stage 5 clinger with them (her band attachment stat is her highest stat lol) and would probably have a breakdown over it 😭. Also is anyone curious what's going on with Devyn and Iris? In ch2 Iris tells MC that they're trying to spend more time apart so they're not so codependent (like MC & Seven were), then in this ch Devyn chooses not to go to the party, so Iris is hesitant to go, but Devyn insists(?) she go. But later on Iris texts to say she's not going after all...I wonder what happened?

This was so good. Only played through it with my Omancer MC so far, but I loved every bit. Drunk MC was so funny and so were Rowan's reactions. I was laughing constantly reading that bit. Being able to act all silly was wonderful, was hoping for Oriana or Seven to witness it just for the drama and their reactions. I've really come to like Dakota this playthrough. I did like her before but now I love her. The bits with Sevem were lovely and make me want to go through with my Sevenmancer MC, especially with her writing the song for the band. And with Blake, going through i kind of regret choosing to write what I did for her. Feel bad thinking of how G will react. Didn't realise it would go how it did. But my MC had been trying to be nice on the show and not a villain. so better to keep up with that and be nice to Blake. Even if my MCs don't want to. Loved it all. Going to be replaying it constantly for a while now. And I can't wait for chapter 5. I need to know the reactions to the songs. And who wins and who goes home.

I don't think that's down to Amy, it's more about the platform (cogdemos) restarting the chapter (or sometimes whole game) when there's been an update. It's the same with other games too. It's run by a volunteer (who doesn't get any money for it), so it's a work in progress. There's a thread for cogdemos on the COG forums, so you could make a feature request there, your suggestion might be possible for them to implement.

In any case I will love a POV for both sides of this off-scene scenario 🥺🥺 Also a bug I wanted to note is that I skipped to Ch 4 and chose to hookup with Dakota but didn’t get any extra flavor text scenes that I saw in the code… same with the attracted_to_blake flag. It seems like some flags might be broken with the skip option? I haven’t tried starting from the beginning yet

Hi! I'm replaying the whole demo, and I have Seven as a best friend who I plan on romancing. But during the party when you're determining your feelings for them, the option of "I'm still in love with them" is available even though originally this was locked behind ex!Seven. Is this intentional or a bug?

In chapter 2 & 3, there are no options to flirt with Blake :'( (the talk in the bus, the short conversation at the bar). Mc is stronger than me because if I had to live their life I would have fallen apart so quickly. I think after holding it together for so long they deserve to be selfish and have fun (my mc isn’t going to be sober if I can help it). I know we don’t know everything about what happened with the vote yet, but I like trying to play an mc who has a growing resentment towards the band. And it gets worse over time. Like for the song Seven wrote for our band, it sounded more like a love song and somehow that was surprising? What did you expect would happen (do you even know them at all don’t piss me off). I don’t think Seven is the kind of person they think of them as. It’s just interesting, like whenever the band says anything I’ve started side-eyeing them like, why are you saying that. What aren’t you telling me. I'm so curious and scared. I’m going to be Sev’s biggest defender on the show I swear. They are like a magnet to me. So goooood! I did notice an issue in I think Chapter 2 - 3. When you do your rehearsal and sing with Griffin, but when you're actually doing the performance, the option to think about singing on stage with him is greyed out. Unless there's some other variable I'm missing there. Also no underwater kissy with Griffin in the pool is a crime!

i had the same bug with Dakota, and my character isn't an ace, so i don't think it has to do with this ^^; (maybe with the choice itself though, no matter what you choose? i have no idea ^^;). my guy stayed at the party, never met Dakota before the fight, but not only did i get a scene with Seven reacting to both the tattoo being covered (which is correct) and seeing Dakota's number (which isn't >< ^^), there was also no way to set their pronouns for the rest of the game >< ^^

I'm having so much fun just replaying the earlier chapters, can't wait to get to chapter 4! I noticed a couple of bugs as I went, so if you want to check them out they're: 1) At the audition afterparty, the game assumes the MC has danced with Dakota even if they haven't (I suspect this is because I was playing an ace character, since that variable was originally linked to that scene) 2) You can't choose to think of Griffin when MC performs at the beginning of chapter 3 even if they had the duet. :') Thank you for your hard work, I'm enjoying it immensely!

Tbf I kind of thought that Seven's band thinking MC voted them out was intentional and based on what Seven told them about what happened 😬I figured they just kinda vaguely told them they were voted out and SV assumed MC was a part of it and Seven never corrected them or something

To add to the comments about the mc not posting anything bug, whenever mc DOES post anything, there's no lecture from O (also if you choose the sympathy dialogue, it just loops back to the same choices and doesn't move forward)

A lot of fun choices this chapter! Went with writing for UW because I figured Seven, as an artist, wouldn't stoop to writing a bad song even to spite MC. And Blake couldn't write a good song even if he wanted to. Now I'm stuck between writing in Blake's voice so his fans are forced to enjoy a song written by someone they hate, or write in MC's voice with the hope UW wins. Because then one could say they only won cuz of MC's lyrics :)

A (possible) bug I noticed is that the game seemed to flip flop between what band you chose to write for. I chose Underground Wastebasket but Avina still asked the band why we chose Soft Violence. And then later on when we receive the lyrics that the other band wrote for us the game acted like I was receiving a song Blake wrote and not Seven. Just wanted to point that out. But it was amazing ❤️ Loved the scene of Seven and MC talking about their parents with each other. Their walls are (slowly) beginning to melt.

I found possible bugs: orion scolded MC for posting something even tho I did not choose that option & Griffin telling MC about the challenge(about how MC should choose SV) part is gone & MC didn't vote seven out of the team but seven's teammate and seven acted like MC did.

Ok so the tension in this whole thing was delicious and I'm so SO excited though I do have to ask about a couple things... I think some of the coding might be off as I chose UW to write for but then the game was acting like Blake was writing our bands lyrics right at the end, but the rest had coded correctly so I talked to Seven about the song and everything, understandable that some variables might be mixed up since this is a monster of a chapter obviously though - I also noticed that when we talk to Avina, I've always chosen UW but Iris/Devyn says something about us picking SV in that moment Kudos as always to you Amy, getting to read anything from you is a pleasure but an update to the main story is THRILLING tysm ❤️
