CH4 Sneak Peek 2.0 (70K WORDS)

Since Chapter 4 is taking as long as it is, I thought I'd drop another sneak peek to mollify the wait! It's 70k words and while that seems like a lot it's honestly just the "intro" of the chapter LOL
The Challenge will be spoiled. I do ask everyone to keep conversations about it contained in Patreon or private chats/group chats. Nonetheless, I can't stop it but your friendly neighborhood writer Amy is asking for this tiny favor just to keep it fun and surprising for everyone else 🫶 (please)
I don't mind reactions in the inbox but I won't answer until after the chapter is fully out!
Things are bound to change. I'm editing and changing up until the very moment I press publish lolol so nothing is ever concrete. As usual some scenes may be condensed. I usually do my whole "fleshing out" at the very very end of my editing process aka when I'm completely completely done. Hope you enjoy!

She wants to trust Griffin, even though she's hurt, because making him feel rejected will only make her hurt worse, but this is her band, her family. She's "the Leader" sure, but that doesn't give her the right to overrule a vote. They ALWAYS abide by the vote. And if she is willing to put her foot down for this TV Bullshit, what does it say about her that she rolled over when voting out Seven??? The angst as always fuels me.

2025-06-23 01:17:23 +0000 UTCdude, i'm sipping the koolaid. i feel like my band said something to Seven behind my mc's back that idk about that caused everything to be worse, bc my mc wanted them to stay and voted to keep them as co-lead bc the band was OUR baby. and now every time i try to talk about Seven they avoid the conversation? hoooo man when i went against their vote for the advantage and they talked to me about "going against the majority vote" i wish there was an option to absolutely blow up on them. last time the "majority" voted i lost my best friend/lover. i wanted to FLIP edit: if this ages well and i'm right, i'm coming back to chew out my band with a vengeance >:(

Give me the wonderland song my band is gonna make it great. And I'd rather write for SV (Seven to be exact lol) than UW (even though I love you Blake).

We're definitely giving UWB one HELL of a leg up considering Blake's abilities as a songwriter (Blake ilu)....unless MC chooses to fumble, but even then, from what we've seen, UWB are the strongest performers and could work with it. And the band's reasoning for picking SV felt so childish!

2025-05-21 13:23:36 +0000 UTCLol my reasoning for picking UW is the fact that UW is good but known for their absolutely god awful lyrics from that other chapter, they wouldn't even need to sabotage they could just write one of their normal songs!! That kind of lyrics is heavily reliant on execution and if the MCs band doesn't have that style it's gg Unfortunately it might backfire and make UW win instead since they're really good but bad at lyrics and now possibly getting good lyrics to work with (unless MC drops the ball big time) Also omg I loved the drama with the band all wanting to pick SV and this time you get the opportunity to be the leader, I like how it mirrors the vote except this time MC takes the reigns. I couldn't NOT take that option even if I hadn't already decided to pick UW long before I read the band's arguments for picking SV and G recommending we pick UW? sus I don't trust G's judgement it almost made me doubt the choice but I'm locked in!!!!

I see this as his way of trying to have a control over MC, by putting them in a somewhat similar situation as Victoria.

2025-04-24 08:29:32 +0000 UTCOh for fucks' sake, My dumb Sevenmancer ass thought we were doing them a favor by writing for UW so that Seven has the ball in their court when it comes to writing for us, but you are absolutely right... unless Blake fucks up so spectacularly in getting on SV nerves that Seven straight up pulls a Thanatos gambit and messes up the performance to face UW 1v1 (even though that's obviously not happening in week 2 lmao). Whatever the case, I'll definitely have to replay this chapter to see how both choices turn out.

The whole discussion of how SV can sabotage the band, meanwhile my asexual and vaguely-uncomfortable-with-sex-stuff MC thinking back to UW's style of writing and on-stage presence... No, no, thank you. Forget any personal drama, it would be such a disaster of a performance. (+ extra layer of resentment towards the band for complete disregard of MC's comfort) While being on the topic and if you don't mind answering, Amy: - as far as I know, the only option to get the asexual flag is while talking with Dakota at the party (a scene you can miss); will there be another chance for that at some point? - will asexuality be actually addressed as an aspect of a relationship with ROs or there mainly to hide more explicit options and flavour text? I would love for it to be the former, but you're already giving us so so much variety in how we approach the romance routes, I fully understand if it's out of your planned scope.

I hate how Viktor pushes us into Victorias role of becoming G‘s babysitter, because first he criticised us for getting close to them and now that?? Also hate how demeaning he is towards G, like what do you meant the person you pushed into a world of abuse, drugs and manipulation at the age of 16 isn‘t doing well? On one hand we have the fact if people knew G ‘helped’ us it would worsen the cheating allegations. On the other hand G might knows some things we don’t and listening to them could actually be the better course of action to succeed in the challenge/have a less miserable time as far as we know. Basically I really need G’s POV for that moment so I can see their thought process. Do they actually know things and are trying to help us avoid a worse fate? or do they maybe just not want uwb to write for us because G has personal issues with blake? On another note I also wonder how Sev would feel if they knew about mc choosing uwb. I mean, Sev might like Mc standing up to the band and going against them (though knowing Sev they’d probably twist it in some way) but would the fact G ‘helped’ the band affect Sev’s opinion on if they cheated? (I think it wouldn’t, but SV might use that as ‘proof’ to try to convince Sev) Similarly I also need Sev’s thoughts and feelings on having to write a song for mc/having a song written by mc. Because at this point I’m not even sure which they’d find worse.

Rowan even asks MC's opinion and they don't say anything. I suppose just because they don't want to be disagreeable, but how could you not mention that when it definitely affects the choice?

Because this is Blake and it would be so fun. Granted, it would be a stupid horny sexy song, but now I can't wait to see if this would be the case in reality.

I honestly have no idea how this will go especially with cheating allegations, seven past haunting the band, ValenMC scandal. Like what do we even write about for the contest 🤔 Do you go with UWB or SV? What will they write for us? Will it be brutal but good enough that we don't get in the bottom? It's just so goooooood. Now I'm listening to songs and pinging them if they are UWB/SV coded. But seriously, I've played through it at least 8 times at this point, (code diving is so hard without dashindon 💔) I'll still do it again. My MCs must go through every emotiomal loop in this rollercoaster 🎢 💫 Great job Amy!

2025-04-11 19:23:42 +0000 UTCThinking about it, I predict that if the band messes up with this challenge or screws mc over or something like that, I don’t think Seven could just sit back and watch it happen (which in turn could affect *their* band because “seven this is a competition”). I also feel like this could turn out to be like a The Vote Part 2 situation where the past haunts the present and things between the band and mc potentially get worse, resulting in the band perhaps hurting mc (and accidentally shoving them over the metaphorical edge or something) and Seven can’t stop themself from getting involved because they still care so much even if it would benefit their band to just stay out of it. Sev is shown in their car pov to be irritated with the band for leaving mc behind or possibly not “reality checking” mc about their parents (“is mc's band just letting them take their parents bullshit with no problem? fuck that band”) so if the band continue acting like this if you don’t go along with everything they want anymore, I’d be curious to see what’s going on in Seven’s head if they see that.

Too many fans hate MC's band, so there's no winning for them. I figure someone else will screw up worse and MC will barely eke by.

I suspect the MC winning this round is impossible (the balance to the auto win for the first round), so it'd be cool to have their song win. Am I frustrated with them for how they are engaging with the MC (both the challenge and discussing Seven) yup - but I'm not angry with them as I think it makes them more human and interesting. I definitely hope that we/the MC gets a chance to properly discuss things with the band as between leaving the MC behind at the fight, and this I really think they are too self-absorbed given everything going on. I'd love to see the situation from their points of view as while we got some insight on Rowan's state of mind, we are missing the others.

2025-04-10 09:24:24 +0000 UTCAmazing story (as usual) and I have a lot of thoughts (as usual). - The O running scene was in the last sneak-peak, but MC and O having a heart-to-heart is very sweet, especially considering the band situation... - I don't hate the band or anything, but they're behavour is driving me craaazy. Some of them defend Seven in previous chapters (eg, 'they're not going to start drama' or smth like that), but now they think if Seven writes for the band, they're going to write something terrible for/about them? I assume this is because they've been forced to face the fact that they haven't really 'gotten over' them - the band treats them like a ghost who's going to come back to haunt them. - Regarding 'the choice' UW feels more 'logicial' in my mind. In general I don't think neither Seven or Blake will sabotage MC's band like (it's just a bad strategy), but Seven is shown to be a better writer + understands MC's vocals well. Worst case scenario is Seven puts the band on blast for the vote...but at least you know it's gonna be a great song anyways. Even if SV *didn't* write for the band, writing for UW might just help Blake come around to the band more. Or not, they might just focus on G cheating for the band, rather than the band cheating themselves. - My general prediction is that the band MC writes has a high chance of winning, assuming the right choices are made (or wrong?). Overall, very excited for the full drama of chapter four!

So first of all the band is so scared of talking about the past and what Seven could say about them- BUT LIKE GUYS WE ARE SO SCREWED IF WE LET BLAKE WRITE FOR US- he could have us say anything and set us up with failure. PLUS VIKTOR IS SO CLEARLY HAPPY WHEN U PICK SV. If Viktor over there smiling and happy with our pick, we did not make a good decision- that man does not have good intentions with our band and is praying on our downfall for views. And tbh I trust Seven. He doesn’t seem like the type that would set up the band with a bad written song. So I made my decision- my loyal mc is tearing himself apart over this drama tho.

It doesn’t even matter if UW doesn’t try to deliberately write a badly written song, they will anyways 😭😭 (luv u Blake) Vs Seven whose a private person and I don’t feel like is that evil by himself (maybe with some pushing by his band but we don’t know a lot about them yet, other than that they want to win lol.) If the band really cared about Seven having ammunition then they’d realize that Seven MOST LIKELY wouldn’t go down the petty path (deserved or not) because Seven has too much love for their craft. Impo, venting your feelings out in a song (vaguely) is different from being petty (bluntly). ALSSOOO, Seven hasn’t told SV everything that happened. That’s known from the POVs. Why in the hell would Seven create a song for the band to perform that would reveal things that Seven doesn’t want to publicly announced. Amy has stated in multiple places (in and out of the story) that Seven is a pretty, decently, private person. They don’t like their business out there for people to use as ammunition. The big hurdle for me is Soft Violence, not Seven personally, which the band isn’t even considering 😭 Seven this, Seven that. Come on now… but maybe I’m putting too much faith in Seven. If anything I feel like they’d make subliminals that only the MC and the band understands but nothing like… the public would understand. Who knows, we’ll see 🤭 Excited to see what UWB & SV create!!

But, more pressingly: MC's band is far too used to persuading MC to their cause. I understand the codependency on MC's part, unloved/neglected child that they were, and I don't think the band is being malicious on purpose (it's never that black & white), but the sway they have over MC is not sustainable if MC ever wants to live an autonomous and happy life. You simply cannot exist for someone else, no matter how scared you are of ending up alone. MC is capable, talented, they HAVE prospects – friends are not a weakness, a lover is not weakness, but MC simply does not value/love themself enough to maintain healthy boundaries. Again and again, the band denies them their individuality and autonomy – and considering the potential trigger warnings for this chapter, that's some truly heinous shit. Again! I don't think they realize (or WANT to acknowledge) what they are doing, but their dehumanization of MC is so plain and painful and it's so much worse than what Viktor/Cory/etc are doing because they SHOULD know better, they should know why MC is so indulgent to the point of self-erosion, but they don't, or they don't want to. But that, too, makes sense: Their own career/perceived survival is at stake. Either way, I just want MC to be happy and honest – to choose what is right for them and to learn the shape of their own worth (which does not hinge on someone else's perception of them). I think you are an incredible writer, Amy, and the core of the story you are weaving is so subtle at times, so buried beneath the mechanisms of interactive fiction itself, I could/want to write an entire thesis on it lmao

But the idea of G having had a ghostwriter is delicious. Especially if it's someone early on in their career G threw to the dirt once they got a hang on things. Makes me think that there really was something between the band and Seven that we don't know about. For all their flaws, Seven has never once publicly trashed the band or the MC. Meanwhile the cheating allegations all started from Blake. It wasn’t even a question in my mind who I thought the better choice would be lmao. Maybe I’ll be proven wrong but I honestly don’t think Seven would purposefully write a bad song for the band. They’re petty yeah but they keep their pettiness (mostly) out of the public eye. It probably is the guilt and their general need to avoid the topic of Seven as much as possible. I didn't think it was possible for me to hate the band any more than I already did, but I really can't stand any of them anymore, save for August. G... I think G gave good advice, but in the end, it doesn't matter if it is UW or SV writing a song for the band, they'll both try to screw the MC over as hard as they can (especially SV with Pope and Avina giving MC the stink eye). The only saving grace is that they'd have to do a face off against MC's band. I think, for that reason, G is right--Blake has absolutely no doubts UW could stomp the MC into the ground, at this point, and would intentionally write an even worse song to get them out of the competition, since they know they can win the face off. SV... I think everyone but 7 wants to completely destroy and finish off the MC, at this point, since they're already down. I am not sure 7 will go along with hit, and though 7 knows SV would win hands-down in a face off, I don't think they want that right now, so they won't completely screw the MC. They'll make a song bad enough so that the MC has no chance of winning and will come in near the bottom, but they won't try to knock them out right now. Therefore, they are the lesser evil. On the ambush vote flashback... was it me or did it seem like 7 knew it was coming and it was only the MC who got ambushed? The fact that it was an ambush just solidified the fact that all of my MCs will be going solo when this is over. Fuck the band. And I want the MC to be able to rage at them about the ambush. I felt bad for Cory. Even my wussiest MC would stand up for her against Victor. Cory is a damned bitch who salivates over destroying the MC emotionally (and would probably cream herself if the MC tried to commit suicide on camera), but she didn't deserve that treatment. It was clear Victor preferred MC to write a song for SV so UW could knock the MC out of the show this week, because he knew that was a 100% thing. He seems to know SV will try as well, so it's a lesser choice, but still what he wants. He really wants the MC gone, and will do what he can to sabotage them without coming right out and throwing them off the show... yet. I really appreciate the "be silent" options now--my MC is talking no more than necessary and caving in on herself. I'm hoping to see more of the "I want to walk into the ocean and disappear" options, too, because my MC is borderline suicidal already. At the end of this week, she just might take that long walk off of a short pier.
