Sengoku asked Lafitte what's the point of making a no-name pirate with no clout a Warlord? Lafitte said we have something planned to address this. Capturing a 100 mill bounty is big enough to achieve notoriety and not be considered an unknown pirate with no clout by the Navy. So if BB captures Luffy, he'll be qualified to become a Warlord.

The show introduced this to us on Loguetown where luffy was about to die on the execution stand and he had a smile on his face, he accepted his death at that moment. And also, the very first episode , luffy says “If I die trying to achieve my dream, then it’s fine” . Luffy isn’t anxious about the outcome, but a lover of the process. He isn’t scared of failing. He will give his 100% to everything he does, and if he still fails, you can be sure he will still have that big silly grin on his face.
