There's a ton of bold text in this one. That's how you know it's an important chapter!

If you're like me, you hate lore dumps. They're a steaming pile of exposition about stuff that isn't immediately (or potentially ever!) relevant to what's going on, and can really grind your pacing down to a staggering halt. Of course there are readers who will muster on through like good soldiers because they just like the story that darn much.

But why put them through such misery in the first place? Why not think of a better way to disclose information instead of an hour long conversation? I'm not pointing any fingers here, but visual novels are particularly guilty of this (those that involve vampiric true ancestors and magical servants in particular!).

Anyway, I'm really happy about how this chapter conveys exposition. Granted, it's not a ton, but it is enough to get the reader thinking, to be foreboding, and to maintain that air of mystery about it. Wait a minute...is SoH a Souls-like? (⚆ᗝ⚆)
