I remember reading somewhere about how the whole Ray reveal and the whole trauma changing people was supposed to be something used in the second films ending.. maybe the third, and it didnt happen since FPJ and JLH didnt end up doing the third movie… and then saw Freddie do an interview where he very much alluded to this film being something hes been wanting to do for a long time etc, but unfortunately comes off a little too shoe horned in…

Also, that final look Brandy gives over Julie's shoulder in her final shot, when Carla limps up and hugs Julie . I always thought it was kinda dark and foreboding. I thought they were setting us up for our first black, female cinematic serial killer. Now I know that will never happen because they chose to give RAY that arc? Boring ass, derp ass Ray? No ma'am. Ray was a part of the cover up...he can't be mad at Julie, but Julie's "best friend" Carla...who wasn't involved at all and had to run for her life? She might have an axe to grind or a hook to hook. I am VERY excited about the ladies teaming up though. That might reel me back in after this misfire.

I've seen a couple other reviews on YT & I'm kinda disappointed in how it turned out. I know that SCREAM kept pushing the "one of us will turn and end up killing" trope & I feel like they kinda stole that idea. Also...I can't seem to forget that there's major beef behind the OG actors (minus Brandy) & I would hate to think something like that drove this movie a bit...Ray & Julie hating each other & the cheap scene (zero shade, loved seeing her again) to have Helen show up? It's almost like he couldn't participate unless she came along too & they needed JLH & FPJr to be separated as much as possible. I'm not entirely in the know of everything that happened with the actors...but this felt a bit much. I'm glad they were able to come back...but at what cost? Perhaps not every recreation needs to be a legacy (& honestly not all the classics need to be recreated 🫢)...I'd probably feel a little bit better about them breaking up if they actually gave us a reason as to why they hate each other. Ray was hit by a car & thrown down a mountain...but as soon as he came to, his bloody self was on his way to Julie...it just doesn't make sense! I know people change & they fall outta love...but the extreme hate with zero reasoning was too much. Otherwise, the movie was okay. The younger actors had a lot of charisma and we got to see the strength in their friendship unlike the OG. It didn't make sense for Ray, Julie, Helen, & Barry to be friends...they seemed mismatched...but this group was more or less on the same level with similar personalities. NGL, I had hoped they had turned the Amazon Prime series into a movie. It had a good idea but some things weren't executed well...but having it turned into a movie would've been nice! Anywhoo! Always a fun time with you! Stay safe in this crazy world! ❤️

Ray being a killer cemented why all those begging for a Scream movie survivor to switch sides and do the killing is a bad idea. The more I've thought about it, the more I can see it can make psychological sense, but I think there needed to be more onscreen to explain/justify making that decision. The "Helen should have lived" discourse had me convinced Danica would live and I was happy to see I was right about that. The Sarah Michelle Gellar and Brandy cameos were brilliant. The setup of Julie, Karla, Danica and the lead who's name I've forgotten (not a good sign - she'll need work if there is another one) is a good one - Madeline Cline was the highlight, for me - but this felt like a couple of different movies in one. It felt like all the ingredients were there, but it still needed a lot of ironing out. I think they should have waited until that was the case. But did I hate it? No. It was a fun time. As horror goes, I wasn't clock watching, so that's a positive. I watched Together with Allison Brie and Dave Franco right after though and that was far superior and thought provoking. You should watch it! I think you'll have a good time. The Petty Pumpkins guys have already done it, so I think it will start to be a big watch for most reactors. Loved spending time, as always! I hope everyone's loving this build-up to Spooky Season!

I can’t picture the Ray from that movie ever being a killer and his motive wasn’t strong enough to warrant such a drastic character change. It definitely doesn’t live up to the first two but I still enjoyed it especially the SMG cameo.

Madelyn Cline was hilarious in this. The part that annoyed me the most is something I haven’t seen anywhere yet (and it’s also not important AT ALL to the plot)… why are all the flashback photos from the 1997 crew in their outfits that they wore when reuniting a year later?! It bothered the hell out of me!!!!

I thought I was being stupid but watched the whole movie with that in mind. Yet when it was revealed I still went “this doesn't make sense… he changed this much or was he always a bit sicko?” The final girls friendships (both duos) was cute but the movie is M-E-S-S-Y

Steve's motivation was because they didn't go the police station yet the outcome would have been the same no matter what, plus the police was called, it didn't make sense as she was involved in the incident was one of the first to say to leave but because it's her so called 'family', that's different. Like okkay... I feel with Ray I think the point was he was holding on to the trauma of what happened and that became his life and didnt do anything with his life, whereas Julie actually was able to move on from what had happened and channeled it teaching while also remembering. Its such a shame we won't get a sequel to that massive cliffhanger ending as I would LOVE to see Brandy and Julie go after this killer but also who is it and why. Unfortunately we won't get it as the film didnt meet the expectations like they wanted from Screams box office.

Biggest disappointment: Jonah Hauer-King not bursting into a random song when the mermaid totem was gifted at the shower. I also cackled when Danica's new partner appeared because I also thought: wait this isn't the same person.

I did enjoy this movie other than that..i liked the new cast as well it was nice to have 2 final girls, i do wish they coulda gave us a little background story to the friend group cause it definitely gave jersey shore (everybody done hunched at one point)..also now that i think about it, it feels a little complete bc what was the deal with the church? Did they know stevie was cuckoo and support it or did they give her the idea bc they wanted revenge for their late member? So many questions i gotta research! How often do you see a protagonist turned villain for the sequel, so theres that at least? 😅 And I managed to avoid spoilers but my dumbass opened the comments before finishing the reaction and the top one was about the reveal 🥲 so idk if that affected my impression Other than that, some fun kills but wholly unmemorable characters. It’s not often you get to turn the savior heartthrob into the villain and it probably sounded fun to him revisiting the role. Maybe? 😭

However, as much as I liked the film I’m indifferent to how they portrayed Ray in this. He was so ready to move on from what happened in the first film at the start of ISLWYDLS, that he and Julie weren’t seeing eye to eye because she didn’t want to go back to Southport. Now all of a sudden folks need to remember and he’s angry about that? Then he wants to kill people when he literally let Barry’s lil ass choke Julie and punch him in the face and he did nothing about that? Good all the way the fuck bye ✌🏾.

My big issues are the fake reactions by the characters (the humor right after a loved one was slaughtered or a literal knife is still in her back is ridiculous) I found the acting/pacing/writing to be awful, the killer reveal was done poorly, the horrible red herring attempt way too late in the movie and the editing was just awful. What isn’t awful is Alanda, a amazing reaction as always.

Out of all the things to be hung up on though I couldn't help but think why did Stevie's friend let her go with her old friends just to go back to Sam and say look she's off with her friends. That was really the catalyst for Sam taking Jonah's car. Unless we're supposed to believe the friend didn't know they were toxic for her. Which also is hard for me to believe since they all belonged to Jonah's church and I'm assuming all shared their struggles? I don't know I had a hard time reconciling with that bit.

Bloodlines was executed really well from start to finish, but this one was. . .interesting??? Lmao. Danica was my fave as well, her line delivery was great. I think the script and story could have been better if Rachel Sennott, (homegirl from Bodies Bodies Bodies and Bottoms), had been in the writer's room. It would have been funnier and I bet the ending/twist would have been difficult to guess. I immediately guessed the killer but the "logic" behind the killer's motive wasn't really smoothed out well. I'd rewatch for Danica tho.

2025-09-13 20:34:42 +0000 UTCnow let me tell you something...you can have every single key word and account that posts about movie muted on twitter but here comes a bitch posting pictures and they spoiled the main plot-twist for me A DAY BEFORE I WATCHED THIS MOVIE🙄 but at least I didn't get the Sarah and Brandy cameos spoiled and they more than made up for the spoiler I did see. I also loved the scene between Ava/Chase and Danica/Madelyn plus the little scene we got with Julie and Ava. I'm weak at you calling Ray a psychopath for how how he used his electric toothbrush in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer and then him actually turning into one in this movie 😭

Even the crash at the beginning didn’t feel impactful enough to not call the police and report it themselves. The characters were also kinda okay, Milo had nothing do to till he died. Danica was the best part of the movie. I would put this on again as background noise but I would also still tune in for a sequel with Brandy involved!

Even though Julie and Ray are shown to have handled their respective traumas very differently, with Julie being able to work through it and Ray stewing in it, the killer reveal would have felt much more believable had there been a bit more development in their relationship shown post 1997-1998.

2025-09-13 19:18:25 +0000 UTClwk wish the initial accident was less accidental and that the mcs had more of an unintentional hand in it. like the og movies' accident was accidental but the mcs were unarguably at fault for hitting him (and ridding his body). feels like the stakes of this accident (car swerving to not hit guy) don't warrant them leaving and wanting to keep it as secret as possible imo lmao but thats just me. love the ending where the best friends make it out tho

Scream could never pull off the twist at the end and they couldn't because it would ruin the franchise imagine like Sydney or Gale being ghostface no lol. But they were able to make that happen in this franchise and it's done tastefully, I believe a sequel is in the works so Jennifer and Brandy back in action together woo!
