Such a great detail ab the treehouse! Each child had a special space in the house that didn’t exist! Throw dance studio, Nelly’s toy room, the game room, the tree house! I don’t remember if Shirley had a special place, but it’s so crazy how it all connects 😭 masterful story telling! It makes sense why you could see movement in the red room but never go in until it opened itself to you. And you get the little clues like Olivia and Mrs. Dudley saying “the what?” When one of the kids would mention their special room. Such good Easter eggs

We watch him emotionally shutting down so he doesn't have to face/feel what he's doing to her. He's just so so broken and its devastating to witness! He does all of these ghastly things (some passive avoidance, some rooted in denial, some aggressive rejection of what he knows to be true) in an attempt to protect his mind from what he believes to be something very destructive and maybe even inevitable! It's so devastating, and while it doesn't excuse his actions, it contextualizes them beautifully.

I think what breaks my heart the most is that need to banish numbness and how desperate it makes her. How destructive she becomes, both intentionally and unwittingly, in an attempt to feel. I actually think that's one of the scariest things we've seen in the show 😭😭 That level of deception is TERRIFYING to me! Sometimes people don't pay as much attention to Theo's confession because of the jaw-dropping jump scare that happens right before, and that is such a shame. You were ON IT, though! I bawled my eyes out during that scene, and to this day, it destroys me. Another moment that really moves me is Steven describing reading the medical reports of his mom and how he breaks describing it. It so perfectly shows us the trauma, pain and sense of betrayal he carried. Of course, Steve being Stevennn, he went and took his father's lack of communication to a severe degree. As he pointed fingers at his dad's secrets, he simultaneously destroyed his marriage with his own. DAMN YOU, STEVEN! I feel for him, but god, what a way to torture and disrespect your partner. Above all, the performances in this episode are exquisite. From those delivering monologues to those receiving the information, it is raw and REAL. I absolutely adore your reactions and always thought you would be the perfect reactor for this. You not only do not disappoint, but you bring a level of understanding and emotional connection (in a first-watch no less) like no other. Amazing, amazing, amazing! It's phenomenal to watch you process this journey. Thank you!

You truly make a magnificent difference with what you do, and I hope you always know that. You are loved & your spirit is a radiant jewel in this barren world💖💖💖) & just for that moment it goes away, but on rougher days..not so much.
