SINNERS Reaction

Too many words to fit in this lil description box 😭😭😭

Comments

Truly the best movie of the year for me! Saw it in theaters and proceeded to immediately watch once again in theaters the following weekend and the twice more when it came on streaming! Like unparalleled cinema, truly

This the first time I heard someone outside my friend group— much less someone online— use the term octaroon AND use it correctly 😭

Zaimere

While Sinners is my favorite movie of the year, I would recommend my second favorite movie of the year if it's OKay? I think it might be a bit lighthearted break from both Sinners and The Haunting of Hill House. The movie is the 2025 animated science fiction horror comedy The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie. It follows housemates Daffy Duck and Porky Pig as their efforts to keep their home from being condemned lead them to discover an alien invasion conspiracy at their new job. It's a pretty funny movie and one of the rare few hand drawn animated movies released these days. It also has a pretty good horror plot for a kids' movie. At one point it has a scene ripped straight out of John Carpenter's The Thing. It's such a funny movie, a true return to form for the Looney Tunes, and would make for a great reaction. If you did decide to watch it, i'd stick through the credits, as there's a mid-credits scene and an after-credits scene

Jeb Manning

I also appreciate that the horror in this is an ancient evil. Remmick mentions how he was an Irish pagan whose family was slaughtered by Christians and their lands stolen. Historically speaking, that means Remmick would have to be between 1,300 and 1,500 years old by the year 1932. Depending on when it actually was that his family was destroyed by Christian missionaries.

Jeb Manning

This is easily the best movie I've seen this year, and I don't think anything will beat it. It has such great character work. Michael B Jordan is so good that you kinda don't see him twice. You just see two very different characters. I also appreciate Sinners not holding back in showcasing the dark side of 1930s America. The music is so well handled that it has its own sense of character and cultural identity. Even the Irish songs, like Rocky Road to Dublin, are heard instrumentally to convey Remmick's past, his loneliness, and his desire for community. It's just such a great original movie.

Jeb Manning

Obsessed with this movie and the reaction but also obsessed with Wolfsong in the background omg. I read it for the first time yesterday and I don't think I've ever cried as much at a piece of media as I did with that book 😭

Kier

The end credits scene always makes me 😢

Offred84

Death as the only path to freedom (and even then you're chained by loss and sunshine) LORD SPARE US 😭😭😭

Alanda

I actually saw her first in Lovecraft! (even though I didn't finish the show because I got too scared 😭😭)

Alanda

OHHHHHHH WE LOVE THIS 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Thank you!!!

Alanda

A couple of little things that are interesting that I don't see mentioned. The blue and red coding for Smoke and Stack isn't just a way to tell them apart but apparently colors that represent the Irish and Italian mobs that the two of them ripped off, so you can infer that each of them infiltrated one mob. When they drive past the chain gang, Delta Slim yells at them and one guy waves back, prompting a guard to shoot in the air. Looking at the credits, I saw the guy who waves was Michael B. Jordan's body double for the twinning shots. Apparently Hailee has the same mixed-race heritage as her character. I wonder if that was coincidence or if Coogler already knew that and wrote the role for her. The clip is one single unbroken take, so it wasn't edited fully, but Delta Slim also had a song that was unfortunately deleted for pacing and time. You can see it on YouTube and the deleted scenes on the physical and digital releases. Maybe this is obvious, but simply because it isn't mentioned, the older Sammie is played by actual Chicago blues legend Buddy Guy. Last but not least, I also said this in reply to someone else, but at the end, with Remmick gone and no other vampires seemingly left as part of their particular "hive mind," Stack and Mary's eyes glow a cool blue rather than red.

Tyler Foster

Between Jack O'Connell in this and 28 Years Later, and Nicholas Hoult in Superman, it's been a good year for the cast of "Skins."

Tyler Foster

I don't think the vampires even inherently hold hate. The evil that Annie discusses is that their souls are not allowed to travel to the afterlife, they get stuck in the body. They also learn that even if killing Remmick will not free the vampires he created, the hive mind does stem from him. When Remmick dies, the hive-mind is then freed of Remmick, and that of every other vampire he turns at the juke. Since Remmick approaches the house alone in his introduction, it can be inferred that the entirety of the hive mind was there except for Stack and Mary. Interestingly, while the idea that the evil all came from Remmick and trickled downward is never explicitly stated, Remmick's eyes and the eyes of all the vampires glow red until he dies, but when Stack and Mary appear at the end of the movie, their eyes glow a neutral blue-gray.

Tyler Foster

PS...I'm just kidding. Don't come for me. I love ya'll.

Clever Girl

Look....I am not saying what Grace did was right, but I cannot be held accountable for what I do when I'm grieving and its vampires outside singing. 😂 The whole setup is crazy, but I'm supposed to make sense? I been drinkin corn liquor ALL NIGHT and there wasn't a glass of water in sight. Apologies to everyone cuz 🍾🗡️🤬🔥 Her husband was fine. You would be mad too.

Clever Girl

HOW DID I MISS THISSSSSSS OMFGGGG

d$

Movie of the year for sure!

Nat B

I loved this movie so much and loved your reaction during the summoning of the spirits, mouth agape, lol. I wish you had been able to see it IMAX it was one of the best experiences I’ve had in a long time but I appreciate you for holding out for us 💛. If you love Wunmi Mosaka I hope you will watch Lovecraft Country, if you haven’t already. She is outstanding in it.

TheeFinalGirl

While stack was indeed a pimp Mary was not his worker. Mary knew them from childhood. I’m sure his connections in Arkansas explains his knowledge of what man to set her up with. I’m sure he brought up the idea to her mom and married her off to keep her safe and away from Mississippi.

Shay

Alanda never disappoints! This is by far my favorite movie of 2025 😍

Axel

I just realized the twins got to be with the women they loved only after they passed.

Vladomyr Blue

The Deliverance ftw

Michael Pares

Oh!

the3Awakened1

Why?

treasure.evolution

It’s interesting. I’ve seen a lot of folks try and dissect Grace’s choice to left the vampires in on it being commentary on the Asians community relation to the Black community. I don’t see if that way. I truly see it as a scene of a mother who is Asian, which is a culture where family bond is important, places the love for her daughter above else. I don’t see it as a commentary on the Asian community betraying the Black community but that is just me.

Jesse Escalante

*first time acting.

Jesse Escalante

Also, a fun fact about this film, in the scene where Stack, Sammy, and Delroy are driving and Delroy is telling the story of his friend being Lynched, the actor Delta improvises the entire scene of him singing. The actor who played Sammy looks confused because the actor was since this is his first time. Michael B asked the character Sammy to play to help the actor go with the improve. That entire moment is what we see on film. Wow.

Jesse Escalante

This movie is everything. If it gets re-released in IMAX, don’t walk, RUN! It is meant to be seen on IMAX as that’s how it was filmed. Truly gorgeous and phenomenal. I cry every time when Smoke tells Sammy that night at the Juke Joint was when he felt truly free. It reminds me of how us as marginalized folks give each other freedom through song, dance, music, culture, and community. We give each other the Juke Joint away from the outside oppressive systems..or vampires. I think of every time I get to dance and celebrate with my queer friends of color. UGH.

Jesse Escalante

I mean...Remmick is STILL absolutely a villain, even if he is a victim of oppression himself. The Rocky Road to Dublin is a testament to that. Compared to THE scene with Sammy with the beautiful blend of cultures and times, Remmick suppresses everyone else's thoughts and cultures and places his own as the only option. Everyone is forced to sing and dance only in HIS way. Thus the oppressed becomes an oppressor himself.

RinCaimo

I really wanted to wait until there was at least 2 days a marathon worth of content before I upgraded my subscription, but damn, here I am immediately over Sinners.

Iwokeupforthis

If you only knew how this sentence mirrored my thoughts and triggered my analytical brain 😭 I just sent my sister the longest notes app bullet points I’ve written in FOREVER 🙂‍↕️ hol on I’m bout to post it.

Alanda

This one had my mind workin! Like I was having so many thoughts I couldn’t even articulate them but also feeling so emotionally absorbed like omg 😭

Alanda

Loving the Patreon so far, but after watching this video I got a phone call and it said "You're gonna die in 7 days if you don't recommend Killer Klowns from Outer Space" in Brenda's creepy voice. So you know maybe you can react to that?

Ethan Sin

“That should be me” REAL 🤣

Shay Tuck

The only movie I walked out of 😭

Thomas Riggs

This movie is everything. And so is your reaction 😭 ❤️ from 🇮🇪

Liliana

the set up, the hair, the outfit, facecard...MISS ALANDA!! this is such a powerful movie and I loved it so much, happy it got the success and praise it deserves. such beautiful storytelling and cinematography

world of tinashe

I legit love this movie. Watching it and just letting everything set in. Especially after the third watch, I was moved to tears. Hearing Stack talk about the last time he saw his brother and the sun, while stating that they were free for a few hours really broke my heart ❤️.

LaTrese Harris

You asked at the end if they (Stack and Mary) are still "in there". Annie said the souls are still there, just with hate. We then learned they also share the consciousness of the others in their group (those turned by the same vampire). So, once everyone else was killed, it was back to just Stack and Mary. That means they still have the hate and share consciousness, but they do not have the extreme evil consciousness of the original vampire. That's why they almost act normal.

SpunkyBlah

"Taught you to get out while the money was up” "Set you up with a rich white husband (in Arkansas)" "I was selling ass in Little Rock"... BRO!! It took me this many reactions to piece together that Stack was a pimp and Mary was his worker

Simone Cherie

i was so excited to see you react to this cause i knew you would love it visually and cinematically. Now i gotta say you were making ME jealous talking about Annie being your wife, what are the qualifications for being YOUR wife? also you were complaining about the heat messing with your hair but i personally love it all wild like that! but i know the struggle with the heat and natural hair..can't wait for the next upload! im loving this

J'aime Black

An amazing movie!! Wunmi Mosaku supremacy! Another great horror movie with her is “His House” on Netflix - it’s centered around a Sudanese Refugee couples experience in the UK and trying to keep your cultural ties alive etc, I think you’d like it 🫶🏼 It’s where I first found Wunmi and she EATS in that movie whew

Daniel McGuinness

if you ever watched skins that's cook, he's the vampire, someone said it and I freaked out cause I used to watch that show for the lesbians of course haha

Nikbrolled

not another tune. the face you made, so real cause then score is great in this movie

Nikbrolled

I've seen a lot of movies this year, and I can honestly say this is my favorite of 2025. This is art. This is cinema.

Joshua Scott

Girl it’s hot here too 😭💕

Mal

This movie was a delight to watch in the theatre and again here. I clapped with glee when he pulled out the grenade - they fucked around and found out!

Tawnie

when Annie said "your body still remembers me" I felt it. Smoke, how you leave that woman behind? if you don't treat her right, I will

maya-henri

I know you usually only react to movies and tv shows but if you wanted to venture onto music reactions, I HIGHLY recommend reacting to Preachers Daughter by Ethel Cain. It’s a very story driven project which I feel you would love <33

Amen M

This movie is emotional and visually gorgeous - and it has LAYERS! What a movie to watch you react to long-form! Perfection!

Ana Fox

cant wait for the substance

Bret Alleman

I’d read about the movie, knew it had vampires, and looked forward to seeing it because it got great reviews. It has so many levels. I asked my husband if he wanted to see a movie one Saturday. He said, Sure, what do you want to see? I asked if he knew about Sinners. He said, Of course I know about Sinners! So we went. When the vampires showed up at the juke joint, he leaned over and whispered, This is the most disjointed movie I’ve ever seen. I shhh’d him, and we watched the rest. Afterwards, he was upset with the movie. I said, I thought you knew all about it and what to expect. He said he’d just read enough to think it was about the blues.😂 I loved it, every part from the relationship of the twins and the women they loved to the southern setting, from the symbolism to the vampires. My husband collects vinyl and has lots of blues records, and he was upset it wasn’t just about the blues.😆 Fun reaction as always, Alanda.

Bootsie

Honestly hope you get to rewatch it in a theatre though, the sound design is probably gonna snatch a few Oscar’s for the movie

PrinceToko

Without a doubt the best film of the year. I adore everything about this movie

Tylor Gaxiola

Ugh, so fun to see you react to this Alanda. I've now watched this about 8x and bought the 4k version the week before it came to HBO & don't care. The writing, directing, cinematography, acting, set & costuming design, the visual effects, and of course, the sound & music design. I loved everything about this movie. Sammy singing *I Lied to You* is a damn experience, every time. And at the end, *Last Time* at the point brings tears to my eyes. When Wunmi is giving the line about using every root to keep him & his brother protected and the reverb they put on her voice... chills, loved it. So many great moments & agree this is my fave movie of the year.

Kai d'T

This movie does such a great set up job before the vampires get introduced like the whole beginning of the film could’ve been an incredible separate movie on its own. The setup makes the ending so incredibly sad like they were just out here trying to make a way out 💔💔

Destiny 🩵

I respect you for saying this. 😄 I love hearing different perspectives about film. I loved the movie. It is beautiful..the acting is good. The story is fun. Music is fantastic. There are however a few things I can imagine future generations especially, watching and finding corny or overblown -including the public response. But what I felt in this movie is what I felt in Black Panther. Ryan Coogler has an interesting way of capturing the mood of the time and addressing subconscious aspects of the world at the time his films are released. He provides a cathartic experience through what appears to be an unrelated story. A marvel movie that made people feel seen and powerful at a time when they felt undervalued or under threat. A movie about vampires that addresses racial dynamics. I probably wouldn't have paired those. The fact that people come away energised, despite these heavyish concepts is remarkable to me. I'm interested in seeing how the movie is viewed over time. Right now though, it gives me what I need and I love seeing other people enjoy it too. Most importantly to me, ts so much fun. ❤️

Clever Girl

Easily the best movie of the year that I've seen. I love this so much. The music, the gorgeous filming, and that cast! It's almost unreal how good it is. So much to talk about with this movie. LOL

Waylon Jordan

This movie touched my soul girl. My two favorite scenes were the generations of music and killing the damn Klan!!

Marlaina Lindsey

Wasn’t a fan of how Stack was speaking about Cornbread’s wife. That scene was gross. The way that the women in the movie are talked about is odd. A lot of it comes back to sex :/

Jess

Hands down one of my favorite horror movies from 2025

Daniela Sannino

I'm one of the few people that don't think I need to see a film in cinema for it to means something to me. If it didn't get me at home then it won't effect me in the cinema (and vice versa) But that music through the generation scene is definitely a scene im so happy I saw in cinema and even though it was a good scene watching at home, it really emotionally got to me when I watched it in the theatre 👏🏽👏🏽

Christopher Nicholas

trust me when i say nothing will prepare you for how massive they are when on the ground and trying to protect a food source; i saw those wings spread when he spotted me and felt my soul teleport to mars lmao

Alex Manning

i’ll never forget the day i told my dad to watch this and, as remmick and the devils showed up to the juke, i walked outside and came face to face with a vulture in my backyard on my way to fill bird feeders. scared the life out of me so bad i came inside and saw what part my dad was at, and fully thought i was having some out of body experience 💀

Alex Manning

It's easy to call a new movie the best movie of the year, or the best movie I've ever seen, etcetera. After dozens of times of watching this movie in its entirety, it's definitely the best movie in the past decade, at least. In my personal opinion. The movie is a combination of genres, and each was done to perfection. We have a crush on the same actress, Alanda. I'm glad you joined Patreon in time to react to this, as it wouldn't be the same with so much of the songs and music muted or cut out. YT reactions just can't really do this movie justice.

Tim D.

Glad I haven’t seen this movie yet, now I get to experience this with you 🥰

Fina Julianna

alanda... bless you for saving this for us to enjoy together <3

luca

oh my gaaaawdddd 💕 so exciteddddd

Laryssa Almeida

Sinners. The movie where all the critics and all the people are trolling me. I thought, beyond the bonkers amazing one-shot, this movie was not that good. It was pretentious to me, like it enjoys the smell of its own farts too much. I think if I found MBJ in the least attractive I would have liked it more. It felt uneven, heavy-handed and not enough character development.

Aaron Johnson

God, why do I still cry after the 5879603646927th time watching this film!?!? I have to defend my girl Grace. I was PISSED at her when I first saw this film but then someone pointed out that she literally did it to save her daughter. Yeah, she damned the rest of us but for her child!?!? Tell me none of us would do the same. She knew Lisa wouldn't trust any of the vampires and let them in - but she would trust her dad. When Grace let the vampires in, she ignored everyone and went straight for her husband. She killed him while BURNING ALIVE. The amount of pain she must have been in...but she stayed there, stake in her husband's chest, making sure to take him down with her so that their kid could grow up safe from at least this. I LOVE so much how this movie portrayed racism and the struggle of African American folks. The cotton fields, the story Slim told about his friend Rice (and us HEARING HIM BEING LYNCHED IN THE BACKGROUND), the "prisoners" slaving away, the black side of the street vs the white side of the street, how Lisa and Grace could walk from one side to the other because they were more "acceptable" coloured folks...OMG. THE MUSIC HELLO!?!?!?!?!? You best believe the soundtrack is on repeat for me. Damn, Sammy's voice is incredible. Wtf. Smoke being so heartbroken over his baby...and his smile as he held her...I'm speechless. I'm so happy that he, Annie and their baby are presumably reunited in heaven...but I'm so sad that Smoke and Stack are forever separated. I wonder if Stack was hiding from the sun in the juke joint and heard his brother's death. If he came out once the sun went down to bury his brother. I ADORE the fact that they tackled colonialism. Remmick, who spoke of people who stole his father's land and forced religion upon them (the Irish people's struggle during the man-made "famine" by the British), went to find the Choctow people because they'd helped the Irish during said "famine"...except they don't play with vampires and Remmick has not only turned into a vampire, but he'd also turned into the same monster that had once terrorised his people - someone who tries to assimilate into someone else's culture by erasing their identity and forcing them to accept his instead. Everything - EVERYTHING - about this metaphor spoke to me. Sammy's performance at the juke joint where he summoned spirits from the past and future...and we see the evolution of black culture in music and we also see the different cultures blending together...is peak cinema. Sammy still being so affected after 60 years he named his club Pearline's and still wakes up terrified of that night...😭 Stack's last line about how that was the last time they were all free had me bawling. I am so sorry for this long ass comment but I could talk about this film forever. I'm sure there's still so many things I missed.

Nyssa Rawther 🍉

Girl your hair and fit 😍 you’re beautiful Alanda! so excited to watch with you ❤️

lauren surber

Such a beautiful movie. The acting, the cinematography, the music!

David

Vampirism as a metaphor for assimilation is genius work Mr Coogler 👏 🤯

peyotebritta

1:53:20 I think Stack wanted Annie specifically because he was trying to make it even harder for Smoke to refuse their offer. Mary meant it when she said they wanted to turn them all because they were family. Remember, Annie said that vampires are worse than haints because the soul is still trapped in the body so it’s still them. Hence why Mary was distraught when Annie was killed “Once we kill y’all, we’re gonna have heaven here on Earth” but she didn’t mean ‘kill kill’ yk.

peyotebritta

Yesss i've been waiting for this! :D

Helen KB

Holy. Sh*t. I just watched this with you and I am….. this was so good I-😳

Wilna Nel

I just realized the first time we see Smoke smile the whole film is when he holds his baby 😭 Thank you for this reaction Alanda omg I needed this

AsiaFromBrooklyn

Love this set up!

angelo

Immediate simping over Wunmi iktr

Jazmin

Agreed I'll always watch here first and then go and give her the views because of the support! I honestly just put on her playlists before sleep sometimes. Gotta help a Queen!

Janet Michelle

Also can I just say, at least for me, your sound set up here is perfection. Some reactors need mics, but you've always been so clear and concise and loud and wonderful I can always hear what you're saying over the movie and I honestly find your ambient background noises whether it be rain or just random funny noises very comforting. I'm sure it's also easier for editing (I hope so at least).

Janet Michelle

In a movie full of scene stealing performances Jack O' Connell as Remmick ATE and stole the show. Plus, I'm sure as you watch you'll see the similarities between how he's explaining his past compared to their present and how similar it's always been and how honestly the vampires weren't even the villains of this movie. We all know who the real villains were and so glad they weren't given much time, but were ALL taken out.

Janet Michelle

The scream I screamt seeing this was a two hour video!!! I’m never going back to your YouTube unless I’m turning you on in the background to continue getting up your views 😭🤣

If this movie gets a re release in theaters you have to see it on the big screen. It’s such an amazing experience.

Vicki M

This soundtrack and movie deserve all of the awards.

Vicki M

The way I was about to watch this before bed, but forgot this was Patreon and we get the FULL reaction lol … I will be saving this for tomorrow, but CAN’T WAIT to see you experience how damn good this movie is! I also highly recommend watching K-Pop Demon Hunters soon. EXTREMELY different films, but I coincidentally watched these movies back to back and the way music plays such a special part in both of them just felt right watching them so closely together.
