ah if you remember him you get a cookie and a veterans pass, if you don’t know who he is and haven’t seen him until just recently, uh, this is Slash, a big blue oni dude.

I first drew him back at the beginning of 2020, and from then on it seemed like his design changed every other month. Made a plan for what his story was gonna look like, finished a 40 page comic for him as a test (which is still online if you wanna read it, it’s kinda bad though), included him along with other characters like Cookie and Kitsune & Buni in my “favorite characters“ spot, practiced learning to draw him without a ref. He was pretty busy. That is until I just, stopped drawing him. Idk what it was but I just kinda fell out of love with him.

I honestly debated putting him up for adoption at one point. Though if this “on a whim” redesign has taught me anything, it’s that the only thing that truly holds back a characters potential is the writer.

So what’s he doing now? I’m still not entirely sure, so I’m gonna just keep drawing him and feeling things out until I get a clearer idea as to what I want to do with him. (I’m thinking of something akin to a late 90’s manga, since all of my stuff gives off the feeling of certain time periods, like how Cookie is 80’s anime)

This is probably my favorite redesign that I’ve given him, previous redesigns always felt like they were lacking something (kinda like what happened with Kitsune I suppose), aaaaand he’s actually fun to draw now yippee!!!!
